[USA] Legos at Marshalls...YMMV

Post by prozac » Fri Feb 11, 2011 8:08 pm

Went to a Marshalls store "close" to me(30 minutes away) cause I happened t obe in the area and they had the Atlantis Gateway of the Squid for $20(which is half off) a City Garage set for $70, and the Pirates and Castle Brickmaster books for $12. They had the Seperatist shuttle too but I don't remember the price and the power miners magma mech for $14.99...which isn't great. I think they're owned by the same people as TJ Maxx(and maybe Ross's) so you may want to check there as well. I got the atlantis set :D

TJ Maxx and Marshalls are the same company, but Ross is not.

I was at a Marshalls the other day. They have a messy toy area in the far back corner of the store. I found brickmaster books (Pirates, Atlantis, and Castle) for about $15-17 each, and also there was a medium or large Castle set. They weren't exactly amazing deals. I didn't buy anything. Oh this was in a San Jose, CA store.

On a similar note, I've seen the brickmaster books in a Salvation Army or Goodwill store. I think it was a Goodwill actually. I have a friend that used to work at Target, and I guess they send their returned merchandise "across the street" to Goodwill.

local TJMaxx had several LEGO sets.

Lunar Limo @ $29.99
Magma Mech @ $14.99
A bionicle hero set
Hero Factory drop ship
Farmer and Jester impulse sets @ $2.99
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

I've cruised the local TJMaxx and Marshalls a few times without success. They usually have a few Brickmaster books at a moderate discount and heavily beat up, sometimes with rips in the packaging. And then they'll have a few other sets, but not at a big enough discount to bite. Honestly I've had better luck at Target and Walmart.

I finally got around to checking out my Marshalls today. They had the same stuff mentioned here...Gateway of the Squid, Lunar Limo, and Magma Mech all for about 25% off. They did have one Atlantis Neptune Carrier for $29 (50% off) however. How is the build on that one? Would anyone recommend it?

My 6 year old got this one for Christmas. He was able to do most of it without help. It is a pretty interesting build. It's three vehicles in one. Lots of cool red pieces and the trans-green canopy is nice. I really liked the boat mast that came with it too.

At $0.065 per piece, I'd say it's worth the price.

I actually reviewed that set, just didn't get a chance to post it yet.

Neptune Carrier is a GREAT set. Just like previously mentioned, it has so many parts to it, it makes for a lots of fun to play with. There are also some moving parts (which I think always helps the fun). Definately recommend this set.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
