Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Went to my local Walmart and I found a 4738 Hagrid's Hut in great condition and sealed for $5. I was assuming that there was a glitch in the syste.

Wow, that really is a steal! That sounds like the time Gateway of the Squid rang up for $2 for me at KMarthassmyster wrote:Went to my local Walmart and I found a 4738 Hagrid's Hut in great condition and sealed for $5. I was assuming that there was a glitch in the syste.
Also, I was a finalist in Lego's Christmas Stamp Design Contest, so I won a copy of the Winter Post Office (MSRP $70)! I've been told it'll ship next week!

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Wow, that is awesome! Congrats!
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Crazy awesome find today!! Went to TRU as usual today. I was surprised to see the krakin attack set. Looked around and saw the little cannon pirate set. All of a sudden my son said "Wow". He had found the soldiers fort set. I looked up and there was the shipwreck hideout! They had one set of each. Shipwreck hideout had a clearance price of $12.98. With the additional 25% off it came out to under $10. Soldiers fort was full price at $54.99. I also had a $5 coupon plus I got the ninjago arena, forestman and ninja magnet sets free. I didn't get the kraken attack or pirate cannon set, just the 2 others. Total cost came to $64. I'm not sure whose more excited, my son or me, lol.

That shipwreck hideout was a good find.
Finally found another deal today. This isn't entirely a "Hey look what I got!" post. There's a tip for all you savvy yard-salers at the end. Picked up about 40-50 pounds of lego at a yard sale for cheap. Has fantasy era, Spongebob, Harry Potter, Alpha Team, and tons of Star Wars.
I went yesterday to the yard sale and found a lot of good books for children and two lonely cases emblazoned with the lego logo. I opened them up and-nothing. They were the old kind-red and like a suitcase with gray latches. I mulled it over and asked the prize-winning question: "I see you have lego cases. Do you have any lego for sale?" Sometimes things are hidden or you just don't see them when they're right in front of you. I'm really glad I asked because they did have some at home that they would like to get rid of. They just needed the night to pack them up and asked if I could come back tomorrow.
So-always ask at yard sales for what's not already out. Sometimes there are multiple family members and some haven't shown up yet to display their wares. Sometimes things are squirreled away and forgotten in an attic or crawlspace. Your question might jog the memory and have you swimming in lego in no time.
Cheers,
Jared

Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
The other day I picked up 5 modular building set: market street, cafe corner, green grocer, fire brigade and grand emporium for $640. A lady was selling it for $50 each on craigslist. Guess she wasn't aware of the value of the older set (market street/cafe corner). Knowing the value of it, I managed to get her to sell it to me for $640 knowing that I was competing with other craiglisters. So now, I have all of the modular sets. I couldn't believe it, but wow, I was so excited. I finished building the market street and cafe corner. And to top it off, each sets came with extra mini-figures. My sister wanted the green grocer so she brought it from me for $100.

I saw that posting, I almost offered her $1000 for them, but it was too far of a drive!Legobrandon wrote:Lucky you! Wow. I am so glad that I was able to get her to agree to let me purchase it for $640. I would not have pay over $1000 for it. Lucky me that I managed to beat you to it.Follows Closely wrote:I saw that posting, I almost offered her $1000 for them, but it was too far of a drive!Legobrandon wrote:Lucky you! Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Found another awesome deal today at goodwill... MISB Brickbeards Bounty for $49.99! It was in a locked display case. Looked like it came from some clearance place but the stickers were torn. Expensive for goodwill but well worth it. I'm just glad my 9 year old son wasn't with me!!

Also, I came home to an odd package on my porch and this in my inbox:

Needless to say, I'll be keeping the Star Destroyer, even if it wouldn't have been my first choice of a set to accidentally be sent.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Is there a forum for "Worst Deal"? Because I just paid $35 + tax for an 8901 Swamp Speeder in order to complete my Bricktober set and pick up a "free" Vulture polybag, and I still feel like I made a terrible choice.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases

It's kinda a bummer...but congrats on that. You could always return it to the Lego store and get store credit, right?
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Wow... that is freaking sweet. If you don't want it, I'll gladly send you my Post Office if you send me your SSD =) Is it bad I keep hoping for Lego to mess something up so I can call their Customer Service? :)

Just bought a Wihitecap Bay for $50 (CDN) at one of the Walmarts in Barrie. YMMV as the other Walmart in town is still selling them for $99.99
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
It's been done before at another WM, but you're right about all other WM having it at reg price.hatcher wrote:Just bought a Wihitecap Bay for $50 (CDN) at one of the Walmarts in Barrie. YMMV as the other Walmart in town is still selling them for $99.99
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Not a huge deal, just Halloween clearance on Polybags at Target... obviously they mis-marked some of their Polybags (Ninjago and Star Wars Republic Cruiser).. so had to take advantage. Notice the Total Savings =)
