Boxing Day 2011

Post by Legobrandon » Tue Dec 20, 2011 10:49 pm

So anyone here willing to brave the cold and get some good deals on electronics? I've been looking at desktop computers for a while now, and on boxing day there are so good deals. However, I am not sure which one is a better deal, here are the specs:

(Instore) Gateway Intel Core i5-2300 Computer (DX4850-43CU) w/6GB RAM, 1TB HD, Wireless- $499.99 OR
(In Store) New Acer PC w/Core i5 2320, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD, Ethernet only- $429.99

Both are same prices, but not sure if I should go with the refurbished or new. The refurb has extra RAM and a wireless option, while the Acer has less RAM and Ethernet only. Any of you guys purchase a refurbished computer before? What are your opinions? If I do go with the online one, I don't have to line up in the cold. Here are the links to the flyers:

Please share what you think is a good deal here!

I would always recommend new over refurb in electronics.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

...unless the refurb comes with a warranty equivalent to the new (but they usually don't).

I looked at the warranty, it only comes with 90 days. So I removed that computer off my list. Here is a better one:

(Instore) Gateway Intel Core i5-2300 Computer (DX4850-43CU) w/6GB RAM, 1TB HD, Wireless- $499.99

I think this computer is a much better deal, I get two extra GB of RAM, and wireless internet for only an extra $70. Which brand is better, Gateway or Acer?

I just learned that both sales start online at 5pm EST, no need to lineup to get the deals!
