I have had the Funhouse on order from S@H since Jan 31st and its still back ordered. No big deal really, I can wait. However yesterday I went to TRU and they seem to never have the superhero sets. I look down at the lowest shelf and there was 2 Funhouses. The shelf tag said 44.99 but when I scanned one on those isle scanners it said 49.99/now 39.99, I guess because of the 50.00 gets 10.00 off sale. I bought both, I couldnt help it its the first time I have ever seen one in person. Oddly enough the registers and the isle price finder have 2 different systems...at least at this toys r us. When I went to check out they rang up 44.99. I had to take the lady back to the scanner and show her it says a different price. She gave them to me for 39.99 each.Luciant wrote:I'm totally with you autobrick... And they charge shipping based on when the order was placed, not when the item ships, so don't sweat it about the back-orders.
I'm in the same boat as you in... The number of unopened sets waiting to be built in my closet, bookshelves, and spilling over elsewhere... Too many great sets... not enough storage space or display space... at least the wifey hasn't cut me off from buying more Muhahaha.
I'm gonna order me a Funhouse via S@H as well... not gonna fight the crowds for a hard to find set that will be even harder trying to find a discount for. 2x VIP points makes it worth it to buy avoid the hassle and give a small 'discount'.

During what time of year does S@H offer the double points? (Besides now) Having not yet been out of the Dark Ages for a full year yet, I recall they did the same during October last year. Is there a fairly regular schedule for double points?

Lego has bee pretty regular recently. Yes there is the March and October(Bricktober) sales. Also, don't forget about the May the Force be with you sale (May 4) where they try to clear out Star Wars sets getting close to EOL at about 20%-25% off. Hope this helps.harrelmusic wrote:During what time of year does S@H offer the double points? where's everyone getting the info about free shipping for 12-15 Mar? I don't see it on the calendar, only many mentions of it

Free shipping is from the 12th until the end of the month. Double VIP points are from the 1rst - 15th, so the overlap is the 12th-15th.shaundoe wrote:where's everyone getting the info about free shipping for 12-15 Mar? I don't see it on the calendar, only many mentions of it

and except for the OP mentioning it, where is the Lego announcement about free shipping? It's not on the calendar, so where's that info coming from?

Re: [US/CA] LEGO Shop at Home Promotions for March 2012
My quandry is that I've been waiting for an opportunity like this to get FB with both free shipping and double points. I just put it in my shopping cart, but I'm nervous about S@H selling out before the 12th...
Re: [US/CA] LEGO Shop at Home Promotions for March 2012
The free shipping is for Shop@Home orders only, it doesn't pertain to LEGO Stores. Therefore, it's not on the calendar because it's store-specific information.shaundoe wrote:and except for the OP mentioning it, where is the Lego announcement about free shipping? Since the promo doesn't start until the 12th, it won't be advertised on the site (they don't want the masses waiting to order). The same date/promo is posted on Brickset.com so I don't doubt the veracity of the information.

TnB, Eurobricks, Brickset, FBTB, etc, etc, etc, are all Lego affiliates, so they are privy to information from the Lego Corp. I believe this is where the information comes from.

Thanks,
Yeah, I had only seen mention on the various sites, but nothing from Lego direct. Wanting to do a huge order, so waiting for Free Shipping, just wanted to confirm free shipping was, in fact, coming.
And LOL pointing that it only applies to S@H and not in the store....dont think many people checkout in the store, then ask to ship it home for them heheh

Frustrating, true, but I can see the logic in LEGO wanting to allow the anxious buyers who want the Town Hall on day 1 to go ahead and cover the shipping cost as well, rather than releasing a new -- super heavy! -- product and allowing free shipping all in the same day. A few days' worth or patience and it's still win/win.cerebus76 wrote:Frustrating as heck, isn't it?JabbaT wrote:I might get the town hall from mar 12-15. I'd do it -- if it's possible -- so I could pay through the web and avoid the sales tax of buying in the store (since it's shipping to a state w/no LEGO store). Anyone know if they'll ring you up an order in store thought S@H? Thinking of taking a trip to Dallas area stores next week and would like to buy some PAB, but make a S@H order for regular merchandise. Of course I could do this over my phone from, but what's the fun of that?shaundoe wrote:And LOL pointing that it only applies to S@H and not in the store....dont think many people checkout in the store, then ask to ship it home for them heheh
Re: [US/CA] LEGO Shop at Home Promotions for March 2012
Heh, I see how the wording was a little odd, but I was trying more to point out why it wasn't on the calendar, than why it applied only to S@H.shaundoe wrote:And LOL pointing that it only applies to S@H and not in the store....dont think many people checkout in the store, then ask to ship it home for them heheh
That said, I'm pretty sure we have documented proof within the forum that people HAVE ordered things at the Store to have shipped to them in instances where they were out of stock.
Re: [US/CA] LEGO Shop at Home Promotions for March 2012
Uhh.... I do that all the time for sale items that the brick and mortar runs out of. I've even noticed that the VIP points stay when a backordered item gets cancelled.vynsane wrote:Heh, I see how the wording was a little odd, but I was trying more to point out why it wasn't on the calendar, than why it applied only to S@H.shaundoe wrote:And LOL pointing that it only applies to S@H and not in the store....dont think many people checkout in the store, then ask to ship it home for them heheh

^ I was able to do the same as well. Rather than sit and wait to see if TRU gets any back in stock, I went into my local LEGO store and was able to order the Dynamic Duo Funhouse. I was able to take advantage of the Double VIP Points promo AND got free shipping, without having to wait for the 12th-15th when the two promos overlap.
So yes, you can place orders at LEGO stores via S@H for non-discontinued items that are currently out-of-stock. What I'm not certain of is if they would do it for you for an item that they do have instock, as I'd imagine they'd want you to purchase it right then and there.

^^ & ^ That's what I'm talking about!
For instances where you've ordered in-store and had them ship to your home, do they normally charge shipping, or is it always free shipping from the store?

It's free. So in the example I gave, it was nice because I didn't have to wait until the few days where the double VIP points and free shipping promos overlap.vynsane wrote:^^ & ^ That's what I'm talking about!

Ah, thanks, good to know! Probably wouldn't work with subscription-based purchases (MBA Kits 2-6, 7-9) then - only items that are generally kept in stock, but are not available for whatever reason at that time.
