Difference Between Various LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts
I am a newbie here, just getting started. Of course I have been looking at one of the most expensive LEGO sets, Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle. I notice on Amazon they have about 4 of them. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the sets?
Thanks

A first glance will seem like both are the same sets. The difference are the minifigures (10 in the new one) and some of the features and build. But I think this should be in the license forum.

Seconded on the license.
The builds aren't totally different. It is nearly a re-release of the first one except for the difference in minifigures. I wouldn't sweat not having the original because this next one is looking pretty good.

A quick glance at Brickset's Harry Potter page will reveal a few different incarnations of the castle, starting with 4709 Hogwart's Castle from 2001, 4757 Hogwart's Castle from 2004, 5378 Hogwart's Castle from 2007 AND 4842 Hogwart's Castle (forthcoming).
Basically, they're all relatively similar in appearance, with light tan walls adorned with some light blue-gray elements, and sand green roofs. If all you want is one rendition, I would wait for the newest one. Not only does it look fairly similar to the 2001 version, but it will be the easiest to get, as the others are all long out of production. Each version seems to have slightly different features, though. I would think to create a truly magnificent Hogwart's Castle, it might do to collect as many of the previous renditions as possible to 'build out' from the newest version. Of course, that's only if you have the means and space to do so ;).

I don't own any of them, but the most obviously different is the new one. But out of the older ones, it's easy to see how the HP 3 one is different.
