UCS B Wing?
UCS B Wing?
So, with this set being 50% off this weekend is this a "duh, pick up as many as you can" kind of deal from an investing perspective or is this more of a "grab 1 or 2 and be ready to wait it out" kind of deal? I have no major interest in the set itself (no room for a giant B Wing, much as I like the actual ship) so I would be buying it purely with intent to sell. I hear some negative things about it and it's pretty early to hit this kind of discount so I am hesitant to go with my usual policy of "SW on sale for more than 50% off? Probably better clear off as much of the shelf as I can afford to."
Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.
As a side note, since it effects this sale, any thoughts on the resell prospects for the Han Solo figure they are giving away this weekend?

My vote is for "grab 1 or 2 and be ready to wait it out". It doesn't have the appeal of a MF or a Snowspeeder. Its got lots of useful parts, though. That said, it may surprise us once its retired.
Re: UCS B Wing?
I've got the same dilemma as you Tyrant01. Luckily for me, I forbid myself to get into the Star Wars line altogether so I'd be fine just picking 1 up then wait and see what happens once retired.
That said...it might make for a great source of parts when building aircraft MOC's... hmmm, 2 then? darn.

Re: UCS B Wing?
Does anyone know if the UCS B-Wing will be 50% off at lego Europe or is it just US?
Re: UCS B Wing?
US only
Re: UCS B Wing?
@emazers: Are you going to buy?

Thanks. I kind of knew that would be the case.emazers wrote:US only
Re: UCS B Wing?
I don't expect this to be a big hit. Sure, people claim to love the B-Wing, but for a good sized version of one at a "decent" price ($200), still had very few takers. Telling that TLG had to put 50% on it to move it. Yes you will say the same thing happened with the MF, but the difference is: EVERYONE should have a MF in their collection if they love Star Wars. I think the majority of people don't care too much for the B Wing, and the price will not increase by that much simply because it will not move due to lack of interest. You might have a few USC Completionists... but most of them are grabbing one now cuz it's $100 for a USC, regardless of if they particularly like the ship.
The price-point was the only thing holding the USC MF back, just like the DS and SSD... they are great and highly wanted, but people have a hard time shelling out that much for a non-discontinued set, even though they desire it. People just don't want to shell out $200 for the B-wing because it's not worth it. I view it as the 7680 Twilight of the USC series.

I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
Re: UCS B Wing?
Getting the free Han Solo minifigure helped me make the decision to buy @ 50% off. The free poster and 2 free Chima starter sets were a nice bonus to get as well but to be honest those will just sit and collect dust or my 5 year old daughter will get them.
Re: UCS B Wing?
Between the Shop Discover 5% cashback, Han minifigure, and 2 free Chima starter sets, I was able to score a few of these at $75-80 after all is said and done. That's pretty solid and even if this set never really takes off, I can easily sell it for twice my cost.
