It's very cool and I will probably buy it but you can't call them impulse bags anymore. $3.50 is where it's going to be and in some places I can see $4.

In all honesty I'll probably buy a few at full price and see if I can score more at clearance.

Clearance is always a terrible wait and see game to play though.

Oh, yeah, I'm not going to rely on clearance. I'll probably pick up at least two to four of them as soon as I see them, more if I see them get reduced.

Thank you guys for not making me feel like the only one who thinks this way =)
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Sometimes this feels like a support group.

"My name is Jared and I buy Lego at full price."

I will definitely buy these alien sets (at least the small ones) when they come out. They're pretty cool looking.

Hi Jared!

I have mentioned it before, there are always sets we as collectors have no issue spending full $$, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Some sets are just worth buying at full price. I bought an impulse set at full price, and the 4 NinjaGo sets I own I also bought at full price. It's not that I thought they were going to disappear or something, I just wanted them at that time and would believed they were worth the money I was spending on them.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are a lot of sets that I would never buy, would only buy heavily discounted, and those that I wouldn't buy unless they were on sale. Some sets I just do not find attractive at all (quite a few of the star wars sets come to mind here, too plain or just reproductions of earlier sets), some sets I would like to have but not unless really discounted, and those that I need a small discount on.

Perfect example for me is this past week with the 50% BnN coupon we all had. My BnN has some of the LEGO books, the architecture sets and some City sets. I bought the Mobile Police Unit for a total of $15. It's a $44 set. I never would have bought it without the coupon and I would have marked it at a set that I kind of wanted but wouldn't buy unless I got a heavy discount. You just really have to go for the sets you want, or buy as the situation dictates.

+1 Jared

Hey, just because I have 'issue' with spending full $$ on a set, doesn't mean it will stop me now =) I can just come and vent to my fellow brethern who understand and feel my pain, and who will forgive me of the sin of paying full price.

The microsite is now up:

http://alienconquest.lego.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So far there's a 'Space Invaders' type of game where you have to strategically shoot missiles into the paths of flying saucers, and a form that allows you to ask the aliens a question.

Agreed, if a set is the bees knees for you, there is nothing wrong with paying what the store is asking.

I was trying to resist this theme but, much to my dismay (and my wife's!), I don't think I'll be able to.
The aliens look great (especially the 'brain-sucker') and that Earth Defense HQ just looks too sweet!

*sigh*

LEGO is going to keep me broke forever.
