Re: How as the lime bed in "The Lego Ideas Book" made?
Thanks for the help byroads! You are correct, it does (or can) use a 1x4 with studs on one side. It is turned sideways. These sideways bricks are ran all the way to the headboard which attaches to them normally (not SNOT need at that end). You have to use at least two of the 1x4 bricks with studs on...

Re: 2012 LEGO Bricktober Week 4 at ToysRUs America
As my first year a new LEGO fan, I must say I did not buy anything from them is month either. Well, I picked up a couple of packs of the minfigs 7 & 8 for the kids stocking this year, but that was it. Even when they had the BOGO 40% off, I could always find the sets for a little less or for the ...

Re: Buying sets for minifigures or both
Kind of funny, I'm the exact opposite as most of you. With a few exceptions, I could careless about the minifigs in a set, I just want the bricks! My biggest problem is that I don't want or need the bright colored bricks that come in most sets :(

Re: Storage: stacking vs. shelves
I've just started in the Lego hobby, and I am going to be more of a MOC builder so I researched several options for storing and sorting all the different bricks. After looking at many containers both online and in stores, I finally decided on the Smart Store System from The Container Store. http://s...

Re: Advanced notice of discontinued sets?
Thanks again everyone. Is it pretty typical that the retiring sets go on sale most places?

Re: Advanced notice of discontinued sets?
Thanks for the replies. I don't have any sets in mind right now, was just kind of wondering. I'm interested in knowing for personal reason, not speculating in the "Lego aftermarket".

Advanced notice of discontinued sets?
Just wondering if Lego gives advanced notice when they are going to discontinue sets? If so, about how much notice do they give? Or is there a normal life cycle of a set is?

Re: Better to buy sets or individual brick?
Thanks for the replies. I've actually started doing both already (couldn't wait!), but it's good to hear what more experienced members are doing. I've managed to pick up two of each of these sets: https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSTFVJrNOkG11ZTbbqt6j4akUtq-yCtkJ8yCWVR2KuazLw4mrs...

Better to buy sets or individual brick?
Hello, new member here. I did a search but did not find anything specific to this... I've just got into Legos (well, as an adult) and I'm more interested in building my own designs (mainly planes). Does anyone have any thoughts on rather it is better to start building a brick collection to build fro...
