what should be the next modular house?
Re: what should be the next modular house?
I can't afford them without saving up for a long time, but a modular bank would be great. Or pizzeria.

Re: what should be the next modular house?
I would LOVE to see Lego make the below for their modular series (ranked in order of preference):
- Police Station (Named "Police Precinct")
Bank (Named "National Bank")
Post Office (Named "Postmaster General")
Town Hall / Court House
Church / Cathedral
University
Hospital
Re: what should be the next modular house?
Awesome! I'd think that a church of other religious building would take up more space than 1 32x32. An embassy would be great.spectre4188 wrote:I would LOVE to see Lego make the below for their modular series (ranked in order of preference):

What theme would the modular buildings be named?
I'm sick of typing 'modular buildings' on Google-I don't like it being listed under CREATOR!
huge lego fanatic
Re: what should be the next modular house?
I would really like to see an office building. That would allow lego to use some contemporary looks. Ideally it would be one story taller then all the other sets.
Re: What theme would the modular buildings be named?
I am not sure, maybe a new line that all those big sets would be part off. Creator to me really is the 3-in-1 sets and not these big sets.yoda99 wrote:What other themes do you think they should call it then?Gavin Maxwell wrote:I'm sick of typing 'modular buildings' on Google-I don't like it being listed under CREATOR!
Re: what should be the next modular house?
I haven't seen anyone but TRU categorize them as Creator sets, and I think that's only because they don't have a "modular buildings" category.
They could be categorized as CITY sets, since they fit in with the timeframe/theme. They're really just more elaborate CITY buildings.

Re: what should be the next modular house?
The medieval market square is also considered a Creator set, most of these sets are really not aimed at kids anymore, but more at the AFOL community. maybe call the sets Lego Adults?vynsane wrote:I haven't seen anyone but TRU categorize them as Creator sets, and I think that's only because they don't have a "modular buildings" category.

That would require Lego to actually admit they make product for anyone other than kids.toystest wrote:The medieval market square is also considered a Creator set, most of these sets are really not aimed at kids anymore, but more at the AFOL community. maybe call the sets Lego Adults?

It is? Odd, then, that the box says "Castle" on it.toystest wrote:The medieval market square is also considered a Creator set, most of these sets are really not aimed at kids anymore, but more at the AFOL community.
I've also never heard that Creator was aimed at the AFOL community. It's just a theme that emphasizes creative building and rebuilding, not build-and-play. This could be equally applicable to older children as it is adults.
Um... that's Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, the then-president of LEGO (and grandson of the inventor of LEGO, Ole Kirk Christiansen), who reprised his role as box art model on the original 'Town Plan' set for that 50th anniversary updated version.toystest wrote:They kinda didMantisking wrote:That would require Lego to actually admit they make product for anyone other than kids.

For some reason I seem to remember that it was marked as creator, no clue where I got that idea, but obviously I was wrong :)

sorry I should have watched my grammar better :)vynsane wrote:It is? Odd, then, that the box says "Castle" on it.toystest wrote:The medieval market square is also considered a Creator set, most of these sets are really not aimed at kids anymore, but more at the AFOL community.

My statement 'Most of these sets' was referring to the modular sets and the other non 3-in1 sets that are part of the lego creator theme. (set's like the Taj Mahal, Emerald Night, Shuttle adventure, etc). All those non 3-in-1 creator sets are 14 or 16+ and no longer aimed at kids. Lego itself understands that these sets don't really fit in with the theme since they don't list them on the main Creator sub-site (LINK), yet the remain part of it by lack of a better 'home'. So I am not sure what name they should have, but I don't really think they really fit in with the current creator theme.
I am aware of this, but my point was that they put an adult on the front of the box, indicating that Lego's are fun for young and old :)vynsane wrote: Um... that's Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, the then-president of LEGO (and grandson of the inventor of LEGO, Ole Kirk Christiansen), who reprised his role as box art model on the original 'Town Plan' set for that 50th anniversary updated version.
I really doubt there are many 17 year old's that are buying these very expensive 100+$ s16+ sets, therefor those are really already aimed at adults;)
All that to come back to my point that those non 3-in-1 creator sets should be part of a theme called something like LEGO adult, or AFOL, or whatever name marketing comes up with :D
edit: I am sorry for the way way way off-topic discussion :)
Re: what should be the next modular house?
I hereby nominate the title "Lego Advance Builder Series" :Dtoystest wrote:

Re: what should be the next modular house?
What about "Master Builder Series" to tie into the Master Builder Club and the official LEGO Master Builders?
Re: what should be the next modular house?
They all fall under the Exclusives category already...
Re: what should be the next modular house?
They're also in the Creator category on the site, but we're talking more along the lines of a theme name, not a shop@home category. None of them even have a theme name on the box, in the same vein as "Kingdoms", "Atlantis", etc. (not even their supposed category "Exclusives", nor "Creator", which most of them don't really fit under anyway).BobaFett2 wrote:They all fall under the Exclusives category already...
Next item in Green Grocer, Fire Brigade line???
Anyone know of any rumors what may follow the grand emporium?
Thanks

Re: what should be the next modular house?
I see my post was moved here, which is kind of fitting since I couldn't find this discussion because I didn't know what label these sets fell under. This same topic seems to have consumed much of this thread. A bank would be cool. It seems Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium were released in quicker succession.
