Either way, my mom had bought me two from TRU for X-Mas and I was going to return them, but read this and got a price adjustment instead. I'm wondering if I should return the TRU Semi-Truck if that goes down, even though I got the USB then.natelite wrote:lol... not really. tru always reduce price after christmas is over.vynsane wrote:VERY interesting... Re: LEGO 8803 Collectable Minifigures Series 3 Availability
While it may be standard operating procedure for TRU to increase prices leading up to the holiday season, the increase from $2.99 to $3.99 for CMFs3 happened much earlier than any other increases on LEGO, giving me the feeling it wasn't a holiday increase, just a TRU 'opportunist' increase the same as the jump from $1.99 to $2.99 in the middle of this past year. Since this time around they're REALLY not the only game in town (with Walmart and Target as well as LEGO brand stores carrying them), I think they merely decided to get competitive. Seriously, I've seen boxes of them sitting around virtually untouched at TRU at the $3.99 price. I think it was too much for the market to bear.natelite wrote:lol... not really. tru always reduce price after christmas is over.vynsane wrote:VERY interesting... I doubt it. Cmf hasn't been around long enough. S3 was first retailed in dec.vynsane wrote: While it may be standard operating procedure for TRU to increase prices leading up to the holiday season, the increase from $2.99 to $3.99 for CMFs3 happened much earlier than any other increases on LEGO, giving me the feeling it wasn't a holiday increase, just a TRU 'opportunist' increase the same as the jump from $1.99 to $2.99 in the middle of this past year. Huntington Station, NY TRU is out of them when I got my price adjustment yesterday and since they price just dropped, as the manager said, they'd been sold out of them. Maybe it's NY and people expect to pay more...?vynsane wrote:While it may be standard operating procedure for TRU to increase prices leading up to the holiday season, the increase from $2.99 to $3.99 for CMFs3 happened much earlier than any other increases on LEGO, giving me the feeling it wasn't a holiday increase, just a TRU 'opportunist' increase the same as the jump from $1.99 to $2.99 in the middle of this past year. Searching back through Brickset's news, it seems the timeline for the release of CMFs3 is more compressed than I remembered, but only by a little. People were finding them in the US by Nov. 17th - hell, the bubble code was figured out by Nov. 19th. They were already $3.99 by the time they reached East Coast TRUs on December 1. I'm just saying, there's no reason to think this was "Christmas markup" as opposed to just the same markup above MSRP that TRU had on the other two CMF series to date.natelite wrote:I doubt it. Well, while I'm not on LI, I am in NY, so maybe it's just people on LI. Either that, or someone went and cleaned them out immediately after the reduction, got there before you ;)hardtravelinghero wrote:Huntington Station, NY TRU is out of them when I got my price adjustment yesterday and since they price just dropped, as the manager said, they'd been sold out of them. My local TRU sold out of all 3 boxes at $3.99 upcharge. Knowing my luck if they ever get another box in they would still want them at $3.99. They didn't even honor the $50 purchase of lego get 25% off the purchase when I tried to get my 13 minifigs and the green box.

And how much less at LegoShop.com? The Roosevelt Field Lego Store had the new troop builder packs for $11.99 as well as most of the new sets from all the themes that have been showing up at TRU and Wal-Marts.natelite wrote:clone troopers bp wasn't marked up to $16.99 until late nov. it's now back down to $14.99. christmas? definitedly.vynsane wrote: Searching back through Brickset's news, it seems the timeline for the release of CMFs3 is more compressed than I remembered, but only by a little. This sounds like overly vigilant TRU employees who think we're trying to rip them off as if they'd make more money if ToysRus "lost" less to people with coupons.oocaleb101oo wrote:My local TRU sold out of all 3 boxes at $3.99 upcharge. I'd take them back if I were you and speak with a manager, politely, and only if that does not go well, maybe drop in a swear word or at least tell them you're going to write corporate and you're taking his or her name down too.
For a company that was closing stores left and right four years ago they should be kissing some butt. Anyone know their financial solvency at this point, now they've bought the remains of KB and FAO?
These things are not worth $3.99. (Unless you find S1, and only if it's good S1.)

Re: LEGO 8803 Collectable Minifigures Series 3 Availability
On that day when they had the offer, I declined to purchase them for $3.99. Even though I had just spent 45 minutes sorting through 13 different ones. I did write TRU a very lengthy email with specifics and store locations and nothing came of it. I included phone number/address/email and it fell upon deaf ears.. or rather blind eyes since it was done via customer service form. I didn't expect them to actually reply though if that gives you any insight as to how much confidence I have in their complaint form process. In any case, they lost $50 bucks worth of sales on that day from me.hardtravelinghero wrote:This sounds like overly vigilant TRU employees who think we're trying to rip them off as if they'd make more money if ToysRus "lost" less to people with coupons.oocaleb101oo wrote:My local TRU sold out of all 3 boxes at $3.99 upcharge. Hate to say it, but I wish they trusted the customers more than they do now. At least this particular store.

Customer service at those stores is usually made up of non native speakers. It's more of a customer annoyance...some barely understand what you say, and many don't help.oocaleb101oo wrote:On that day when they had the offer, I declined to purchase them for $3.99. Glad you hear you said no and tried to open lines of communication.
The Lego Co on the other hand, I always receive most excellent customer service, except for the occasional phone wait time, though most of the time there's very little wait.
Re: LEGO 8803 Collectable Minifigures Series 3 Availability
Lego in NJ Garden State mall has a huge bin full of them. must have 6 boxes in it.
Re: LEGO 8803 Collectable Minifigures Series 3 Availability
Locally (Los Angeles) they have been scarce. Found 13 at TRU and bought them up. I had kids in the isles asking my kids for our box. LOL
I was amazed at how competitive an 8 year old could be for toys.
What annoys me is how TRU website says the local stores have them and when I check in person they are out of stock or hiding them behind the counter from thieves.

It makes a LOT of sense that kids would want to make use of their ONLY chance to actually get any and steal/take as many as possible.
Re: LEGO 8803 Collectable Minifigures Series 3 Availability
Yep they must be bought up by the eBay resellers etc...
I was just trying to get something for my kids too.
We never got any series 1 or 2 so we're making up for lost time...

The funniest thing about when TRU employees said "they are hiding them behind the counter from thieves" they said the thieves are often employees... LOL I was kind of thrown off by that.

Hate to say that when I was sifting through the ones I was going to buy at TRU I kept thinking how easy it would be to slip a fig in my jacket sleeve, but momma didn't raise a thief.
