Indiana Jones Sets (7197, 7198 and 7199) at TRU

I was in a couple of Toys R Us locations in Dallas over the past few days and have noticed a large amount of Indiana Jones sets back in stock at 4 different TRU locations.

The sets I saw. Prices were regular price, but cheaper than on eBay and Amazon.

Venice Canal Chase (7197) - $39.99
Fighter Plane Attack (7198) - $49.99
The Temple of Doom (7199) - $99.99

I asked the store manager why they had these back in stock after them being OOP from a while ago, and she said that the TRU "Holiday Express" or "Express" stores were closing (now closed) and they were getting their inventory. So keep your eyes peeled for any other cool older sets. They also got some of the older Space Police stuff in and some Pirates sets. All were regular pricing, or in some cases, the marked up TRU pricing. I wish they had these sets for the buy 2 get one free as I would have cleaned up on Temple of Doom, Ninjago and one other "large" set that I'm sure I could have found.

Sweet info, man! Just hit up the TRU by my work (Huntington Beach, CA) and they had a bunch of Ambush in Cairo sets (7195) at $14.99 which they didn't have before. They didn't have any other IJ sets though.

Cool! That's one set I didn't see at the TRUs in my area. I kind of wish they had some of the Crystal Skull sets or even some Batmans out there. :)

Hehe, I just bought 1, so there should be plenty unless some other person bought em all.

BTW, just went to the Cerritos TRU today and they only had one Venice Canal set and not much else of interest. If you're looking for minifigs though, check out the Target across the street from there.

It's very strange that I can still find Venice Canal Chase (7197) offered by Amazon.com.
It's not "fulfilled by Amazon" 3rd party seller.
Instead, it comes from Amazon itself.
Price is MSRP $39.99 and in stock in Feb 6.

Went and visited the TRU in Mobile AL today, and shockingly its actually a VERY NICE store. Lots of Legos, and happen to find Indy Jones 7195 Ambush in Cairo... $9.99! They had 8 of them, and I couldn't help myself at $10... bought them all. They also had a box and a half of the MS3, so tried to molest the bags for a few more elves and fisherman.

I went to another TRU and found more Ambush in Cairo sets. So cool because I had already checked both of the stores right after this thread was started.

So far all I have seen is the Ambush in Cairo and Venice Chase sets. Are other sets like the temple and fighter plane sets still appearing out there?

Not in my local store, but thanks to Raincry's post, I did get the phone #'s to the stores in the Dallas, TX area, called around to the stores, and found a store that had both the Wing and Temple... a few stores had the wing or the temple (almost all had Ambush in Cairo), some had Venice sets too...

Now the tricky part is the sale. I had to work out with the managers how I was going to pay since I live in Fl. (This was not an easy process and is COMPLETELY up to the store manager so be on your best behavior). I would provide the exact store and managers name but since this was a "special circumstance" I don't want to give out info that makes it seem like this person will DEFINATELY do it for you. I hope you understand...

For me they took my CC# over the phone, and sent the sets via UPS to my local TRU where I will sign the reciept, present ID to the manager, and they will send the slip back to the origin store in Tx. This is the BEST way to do it because of TRU's weird distribution center (they said if they did it through their system it could take a month or two). You also cannot order it via TRU.com or their 1-800 number (both suggestions other Store managers made that didnt work). So you have the best way to get the set... now it's up to you to find a store that still has it in inventory (I recommend getting the TRU item number to ask them specifically for those sets to look up via computer for less hassle to them.) and work it out with the manager.

LOL, it was definately a process... I had 2 managers at 2 different stores that were EXTREMELY helpful and willing to work with me, most of the others either blew me off, told me to purchase it via TRU.com / 1-800-TOYSRUS, or said they couldn't ship. Those stores lost out.. even as "clearance" items, they were full price, so they missed out on $150.. and future business... I definately saved those 2 stores phone #'s and will be happy to spend my Lego Budget with them.

If only the housing market was as fun/competitive as the Lego market, I would take you up on your offer ;)
