The sales in the different targets are so random... definitely not anywhere near the same around the country.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

I went to mine (here in VA) and almost everything was normal priced. :( Camper was $16.99 again and no City Corner left. The Galactic Cruiser was $69.99, but that's still too much for me. I hope they mark it down, as someone in here mentioned in their Target, to only $25. That would make me quite happy.

Really hoping someone can help me out... Looking for the Troll Mountain Fortress set and my Target just sent all of theirs to a "Redistrubtion Center". Worst part is they had them on clearance at $50 for two weeks and I never bit. If anyone has them available around their way please PM me. I'm paypal ready... thanks!

I think the clearance sale is nearly done. I found some Atlantis 8057 Wreck Raiders for 75% off at $2.74. They actually weren't ringing up at all at the price checker and I asked a sales person and she said they were being sent to "salvage" but she marked them at $2.74 for me. There wasn't really anything else to be found.

One Target I went to in Tempe AZ yesterday had a Power Miners Claw catcher with no price on it. I went to the scanner and it said item not found. So i asked the lady who worked as she was passing by. She ended up taking the set to a mangaer and I overheard him saying that they can't sell it because it was discontued and had no idea why it was on the shelf. I should have just taken it to the checkout and they probably would have just gave me any price.

This happened to me before. Talk to an employee with a portable scanner. They usually can look up the item and find the clearance price. Typically it is a ridiculously low amount like 3 or 4 bucks.

I believe, once items are clearanced at 75% the next step is to "salvage out" the merchandise and send it somewhere else. They basically remove the item from inventory, pack it all up and dump it somewhere. I've heard that sometimes their stuff (like remaining Christmas decorations) end up at places like Goodwill. I don't know if it is donated, sold at a small price or what.

I think if it is a recent thing then they can find you a price, that is what I did with my Atlantis set, it said "item cannot be found". The person wandering the floor with their special scanner found a price for me (75% off) and did tag it for me. I bet each store is different though.

Ya I think at a certain point they take whatever is left and auction off bulk lots of unsold toys to other companies / buyers and whatever isn't bought they donate to goodwill (tax write-off).

I've noticed that the clearance is pretty much over. I can spot an occasional return here and there, or stuff like the Midi-Destroyer that isn't selling, or Galactic Enforcers for $70. That's about it. I WAS fortunate to luck out on an Enforcer for $50 (they had about 10 more at Mobile Target in the Mall).

It's crazy cuz even some of the sets that I swear were on clearance, are now back on the shelves regularly priced o.O

Just found the Target exclusive 8403 City House for $19.95 at the Riverdale, NY store. They have about ten left, but check the boxes for tampering. They are stickered as $34, but price check and check out are $20. Galactic Enforcer is $70 and they had about ten of those as well.

That is not an uncommon experience at Target.

Sadly true. The PoP sets were marked on clearance for about 2 days and then they went back to full price. What the heck...

technically, those are not the same stock..one is pre-xmas stock (which they over stocked) and need to cash them ASAP.. they dump them by clearance...

at the same time, they have to restock their shelves... that's why they re-ordered new inventory to fill the space... so to some extend, even those are identical items, but to them, they are new...

yup, i got a lot of PoP and space police the first week of Jan... sometimes, the old stock may even mixed with the new one.. all you have to do is to scan it and see which one is on clearance...

yes.. but the problem is.. not all sets from the same series is on clearance... one PoP (or Atlantis or Space Police) maybe on clearance, while the rest of it is not... so when someone cleanup the aisle at night, they may put the clearance back to the LEGO aisle right by the rest of the regular priced item...

to make this game more interesting... one store's clearance item is the other store's regular priced item... so you cant just go to any store to grab all the Deep Sea Striker because it's clearance in the last store...

how did i figure that out? i went to about 6 stores on third week of Jan.. that's when they have the items at 75% off...

You can try this link to find the City House set. It's been fairly accurate for me.
