Looks fantastic. Can't wait. Could this finally mean the end of life for Emerald Night? I might run out and get a 2nd Emerald Night before they all disappear.

My son wants this as he loves trains. Already has 2 emerald nights and the toy story train.

That's really nice looking. It'll go well with my main hobby of model trains.
Now I have to run out and get the Maersk ship.

Video is now posted on Youtube, with the Maersk train and power functions, installed. Video was found on the Dutch toy site which revealed the pictures of the train first. Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u54pSw3g ... r_embedded :)

Thanks for the pics - this is a nice looking train. I am hopeful for easy concealment of the PF components that are simpler than the Emerald Night. It's a shame this set isn't destined for inclusion of the PF components for a slight premium. It would certainly make the kit more desirable. After we plunk down ~US$149-199 (just a guess based on piece count and exclusivity) for the train, we need to plunk down another ~US$100 for PF components. Makes for a fairly expensive brand-marketing tool. When it's available, it will end up in my home, regardless of the cost.

Nice set but I don't get why Lego doesn't add some tracks. I was disappointed that Emerald nights didn't have any.

Then we would have at least 40 dollars more on each. If the Emerald Night were any more I wouldn't have been able to buy it. And this train probably costs at least 150 dollars without motor or tracks.

And if they had added in Power Functions, it would have been even more expensive.

Every time LEGO adds in more pieces or functions to a set, they either have to knock off pieces, increase the price or make less of them. One of the first thing LEGO does when designing a set is to try and stay within a price range. If they go over that it only hurts them and us.

I don't collect trains......but this box set really catches my attention. $120 for 1234 pieces is not a bad price. Now I have to struggle if i should pick this or 10213? I wonder would there be any chance that this kind of set will go lower than MSRP (on sale)?

If I'm not mistaken, those are the pieces for garage doors in grey!

Very very cool set and good to see the price. lower than expected. I would guess with the EN now dropping on Amazon, maybe they are planning to carry it? Could they be making room for this?

Is T&B going to be opening a new "Trains" area after we've all bought one of these?
