New Architecture set 21009

Post by ncbarrett » Tue Mar 15, 2011 7:13 am

lego.com has a teaser for a new Architecture set 21009.

Anyone know what it is?
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Interesting. I wonder if it's another FLW building (since the other to 'Architect Series' buildings have been) or if they have another architect license.

For some reason, the shape says 'Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts' to me, but it's probably not.

The building looks rather boring.

I'm pretty sure it's the Farnsworth House, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe:

Nice to see them try a designer other than Frank Lloyd Wright. Would love to see something by Gehry...dont' imagine he'd license anything.

Someone has done a MOC version of the Farnsworth House:

Hope the real version is more substantial.

Here's the wiki on it:

That looks to be it. I figured it was going to be someone's version of a "glass house".

I'd like to see some of I.M. Pei's work translated into Lego.

That is one "ugly" house.

Out of everything LEGO could make they picked this house?

Awww I think it's an awesome house. Better than their John Hancock building.

yeah it seems very weird they would pick this building. There must be some architecture out there that is less appalling than this monstrosity.

It's really simple, but I wouldn't call it ugly.

It may be plain and simple, but it's not ugly.

Most people consider this to be ugly.

Both are ugly.

And Boston City Hall is ugly for several reasons. It's a concrete blob right on the ocean. There are no trees around. It doesn't fit into the beautiful New England style. The old City Hall was in an amazing 250 year old building but they decided to move for no good reason. It's right on the ocean and really makes a nice city really tacky.

Still better than a glass shoebox. :P
