Ordered my train just now.
Really looks like a fantastic set, and didn't want to miss out on it.

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Do items like the Maersk Train and Boat have very short shelf lives? Like can we expect these sets to only be available for 6months or the usual 2 year cycle?
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

I always wonder about this too. Didn't some of the 2009 Indiana Jones sets only last a year? Ambush in Cairo was available from 28 Jun 09 to 27 Jun 10 according to Brickset. I'm guessing this only happens with licensed themes and not Original or maybe it was not selling well or...?

I think Lego just likes to drives us crazy and keep us guessing, so they mix it up every now and again just to throw us off.

I think for the main line, they try to stick to a regular schedule. For example, they don't discontinue one City Fire station until the next one is designed and shipping. Likewise, they seem to keep two Modulars current at a time. With a new one about to hit, the Fire Brigade is most likely on the way out.
I think the schedule isn't as firm for licensed sets and store exclusives. The Wal Mart exclusive helicopter/limo set for example wasn't even around 1 year. The Target exclusive Family Home also didn't quite make it one year. Target now has the Bank set, I'd expect that to last until Christmas at the most. Some of the bigger licenses like Star Wars seem to have a schedule, but other licenses like Prince of Persia are a one shot deal.

I was browsing Lego S@H when I noticed that the Architecture Theme was available in the Canadian section. Currently only the Farnsworth house is available.
21009 Farnsworth House
Buy Now: $59.99
USA | $69.99
Canada | £54.99
UK
It is only CAD $69.99 vs the USD $59.99, which is not as high as one would expect (usually would be CAD $79.99 at this price point).
I guess Lego is finally introducing the Architecture theme to Canada with the Farnsworth House; hopefully we will get the rest of the theme as well. Maybe even some Canadian buildings as well?
