I kind of just discovered shopgoodwill.com. If you go there and search on "Lego", you'll find a whole grip of auctions going on. I spotted one that is ended now, but it was for the old yellow castle. They even have a box and the tray. To my eye, it looked like a complete set. Take a look (again, auction is over):

I was thinking that it sells for something like 130-180 on bricklink:

I was considering bidding on it but didn't. My question is, did that item sell for $114.78? Because it says "currently", and I see that they have a type of auction where it has automatic bidding, where you set your high price and then let the server do the incremental bidding for you. (Wish ebay had this.) But I was just wondering if the winner actually got it for 115 or was it potentially a higher price because of the funky auto bidding.

Also anyone who has feedback on shopgoodwill, please share. I have a feeling you take a bit of a risk, but it could be fun to throw out some bids here and there if something catches my eye.

I never knew about shopgoodwill. But I had a look and found a Death Star Listing. In the pictures, there are numbered boxes and bags.

I remembered the Death Star wasn't numbered before. Is it something new that LEGO implanted? :)

I saw that listing and I was considering it before I read "no international shipments" for that listing. That ended up being sold for $326 USD. If they shipped to Canada, even with the additional customs and shipping costs it would probably be cheaper than to buy it here.

Can someone tell me if all the auctions are blind incremental bidding? Does that mean it all comes down to whoever has the highest limit set? I don't quite understand how it works...

Yes - you can simply bid once at a higher price or you can put your maximum and it will increase up to that maximun if someone else bids (kind of like ebay) - that is good if you do not want to try to submit a bid at that last second.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up for me.

On another note, after looking over that site for a while, I realized that the shipping and handling costs on pretty much anything amount to about $15. It's not like eBay where they tell you how much shipping will be on the listing, you have to go and click a link and punch in your zip. And basically the shipping and handling is probably twice what it typically would be on eBay, so that kind of sucks. Small items on eBay might have free or $2 shipping, but on goodwill it always seems to be $10 or more even for a couple minifigures. That kind of rains on the parade.

But if you're buying a larger set that probably wont add too much of a difference if that set is $100+.
