While I was doing some upgrades for the site, news broke from
Imperium der Steine of a new UCS LEGO Star Wars 10221 Super Star Destroyer set. Included LEGO minifigures are Darth Vader, Bossk, Assassin Droid, Dengar and Imperial Officier. This thing is massive and even includes a mini Imperial Star Destroyer for comparison. No word on the price yet, but you can expect it to be high.

Love it but no need for the minifigures to keep the price down. The inside may be hollow to keep the piece numbers down and hopefully the price. It's on my want list.

It's impressive but rather..boring. A giant grey wedge that will cost an arm and a leg :| I think they had a better idea with the death star playset.
I'm also annoyed that the full set of bounty hunters wasn't included (I mean c'mon where's Fett?). at this price point the cost of adding a few more figures isn't going to deter the hard core collector.

I don't need the minifigures for this. Its not like there's anything special about them cause you can get them in other sets. I'm hoping this will be somewhere around $400.

Ya I'd rather get the death star than this still. The size of the super star destroyer is huge so I bet it will be more expensive than the death star. If it has an interior with "play" functions like a bridge, hangar and stuff, then it can match the death star.
FYI: Lego removed the picture from their site.

UCS model plus minifigures? Odd. Left out Zukuss and 4-LOM. Again. and Fett is absent...

Pass. While the idea of a Super Star Destroyer in LEGO sounds great, to actually be worthwhile, it would have to be like 5 feet long and have 10000 pieces, which would make it like $2000 (Canadian). And as mentioned, no new mini figures, so where's the appeal?

I was going to get the UCS Imperial Shuttle but I'd buy this instead if it's the real deal. A must have for any die hard star wars collector.

I did a stud count(the best i could with such a small pic), and it appears to definitely push 4 feet long.
Other sites agree with this estimate.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

I was wondering why a giant doorstop comes with minifigs...
Oh well. I do have a couple castle doors that need propping open.

This is one of the few SW LEGO sets I've been asking for.
While it would be infeasible to have a Super Star Destroyer in correct scale with the mini X-Wings/TIE Fighters, I think the combination of this plus mid-scale Star Destroyers and mini fighters will still make for cool space battle scenes.
I might sell my UCS Star Destroyers to go with the above option. I don't know. I'll have to think about it. Either way, I'm totally getting this set.

I wonder if they'll make a non-UCS super star destroyer that can fit figs and have the famed bridge scene with the bounty hunters.

It is possible there is a minifigure scale bridge on this one.
To me that would be only reason to include minifigs.

I bet you are right. That's a bonus. I still have my Death Star sealed and I'll probably sell it and get this.
I'm not sure what happened to me, but I'm no longer thrilled with SW minifig sets. And I just care about SW mini scale. It's really weird because I use to hate anything that wasn't minifig scale, and I still feel that way about all other themes.
