Sears/Kmart Lego (online mainly) in the USA

Post by Zeya » Wed Jun 01, 2011 4:40 pm

I'm in the USA. I see postings about Canadian sales all the time at Sears, and I guess in the US, we almost never see Lego sales? One of the few places that sells Lego that I can buy gift cards for with my credit card points is Sears.

Can anybody weigh in on Sears? Have you bought from them? Looking at their website, I get the impression that they aren't too snappy with getting in new waves of sets. Their search and filtering is pretty broken too - I would only recommend sorting by price and not using any other filters. The don't seem to have too many sets at the near-$100 price and over. Some of their prices look to be over MSRP as well. On the plus side, they seem to have free shipping (over some reasonable amount) and store pickup.

It also seems that Sears gift cards are good for Kmart too. There are hardly any Kmarts near me though, so that would only be good for online purchases. Has anyone had any luck with Kmart in the past?

Kmart has a better selection compared to sears. Their sales are usually buy 2 get 1 free with some occasional clearances.

I have a Sears near me and the selection is from about a year ago. There's never an advertised sale for Lego in this particular store so I just go in from time to time and make sure there's something left. Last time the Hero Factory figures were on sale for 25 percent off. This Sears used to be a Kmart-go figure. The old Kmart had a nice selection of Lego and sales all the time.

You're right about big sets not showing up. The biggest set I remember seeing there was the Prison Tower Rescue for 49.99. Should you plan to check them out you might find sets that are no longer available except through the secondary market and that's always a fun thing to find. Here all the sets are retail price. No markups that I've seen yet.

Enjoy,
Jared
