The Lighthouse is an fabulous set. Definitely pick it up.
I actually bought the kings carriage, but it didn't impress me from the box, so i took it back.

Don't forget, this sale also applies to the Lego games.

I'm a bit disappointed, as these sales seem to squeeze you a bit more and cut into your savings. I was set last night to get 2 Imperial Flagship sets. $180+ $90= $270/2 = $135 each. Wow, that sounds like a great deal! Well, when it comes down to it, it's not really FREE shipping... only free shipping up to $20. So, they are going to charge $47 to ship these. Ouch! That's a $27 loss of savings plus another $13 for tax. That came out to being $155 each! So it went from being a great deal for me to being only a pretty good deal. My 25% off came out to around 14%. That just wasn't enough to justify it for me.
Yes, I know this set doesn't get discounted much and $155 is a good price. Maybe I'll kick myself if it goes out without ever being discounted again but I'm going to hold out for a solid 25% discount, LOL.
As it is, I picked up 2 Battle of Endor sets at a TRU today. This set is pretty well gone, so I didn't mind the markup and then discounted price quite so much.

I feel your pain on that. Since a majority of your purchases are going to be made in places you get charged tax, I personally don't count that into my 'cost' of Lego.. only Amazon gives no tax so I consider that an extra discount. I was fortunate to nab a Imperial Flagship on Amazon when it was $150.99 (15%?)... no tax and True Free Shipping and my price was $4 less than yours...I can't believe shipping was so expensive... I bought Emporium and Diagon Alley which will probably be in the same size box as Green Grocer and Imperial Flagship... maybe the ships are a lot heavier due to the hull pieces?
Gotta remember though that this is one of those sets that is generally NOT carried in store (like Death Star), and it is in a BIG box aka heavy and 'abnormable shipping size'. Only place I've ever seen one in store is Lego store, and I don't see discounts very often at Lego to be able to nab this at better than 15% off or so... honestly, I was almost going to buy it at MSRP so I didn't miss it and have to pay more than MSRP later. It's a MUST have IMO as there are really no BIG Imperial ships, but many Pirate ones.
My suggestion would be to pick it up in store if available (which it probably wasn't eligible for...but who knows)... that way you save on shipping at least, and don't worry about tax since your paying that regardless of what kind of discount you can get.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

I know but dealing with TRU Customer Service is always so annoying

and I find I just get aggravated. However, if this CS rep did it properly I should be able to get my discount.

I agree, I asked and the rep said that it would be valid after Saturday. So in the end it should work, just a crazy way of getting there.
They are pretty good about honoring their deals after it has ended. I agree that it is a pain, but if you're not in a huge hurry, take the discount. I took advantage of this earlier in the year and ended up with 2 Grand Emporiums as BOGO FREE :D so hang in there!

FYI
As this sale was live a few months back. Around 12:15 to 12:45 try to add your 2 items and make sure and remove your free polybag if offered. That would be considered another deal. You can't have both. A few months back I added 2 deathstars and removed the free polybag that was offered and suddenly the deal was activated. Needless to say I got 2 Deathstars for a total of around $655. Not bad. You have to play their game.

I had no problems getting my two items (with discount) last night with the free polybag. So you can have both.

I'm not sure why the shipping was 47.00 for you. I ordered 2 of the flagships last night and it was around 18.00 which was all covered by the 20.00 free shipping they offered. My total for the order was 288.88, I actually placed several orders and only on one of them was the shipping charge greater then 20.00
Maybe you live far from there fulfillment center and it costs more.

What kind of trick is TRU trying to play? It looks like searching by ID is the only way these selected sets will show up.

They probably reduce the number of calls by "hiding" them

I just saw a Fire Brigade in store at the Toys r us near Churchman's Crossing in Delaware. No GE to pair it with, but they did have some cargo trains. It was sitting on the floor at the end of the lego aisle.
