The orange eyes give a sense that the creature knows what it's doing. A killing machine is what I thought of when I saw it. As for the red gems-these seem to give a "wide-eye" perspective - while helpful it enhances the "golly gosh gee" persona of a child or a dumb adult. The Sleestak on the original "Land of the Lost" show had eyes like that and they ended up not being very scary.
I'd go with the orange.

So the round type eye instead of the gems. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the feedback.

Unless his eyes are refraction lasers, I'd go with orange.
