The Millenium Falcon Line
The Millenium Falcon Line
I saw a post on something like this but I couldn't find the thread. Does it seem odd that while the price for the UCS Millenium Falcon goes up that the other models of the Millenium Falcon haven't really gone up behind it. I would just imagine for a person to complete out their collection that this is a must have piece no matter which one you get...It seems like the first edition falcon is nearly the same price out of box as it was when it was released new. The second series one is a little bit higher depending on the ebay auction. I just thought they should have gone up a little in price also.

Lego secondary markets are no diff from other secondary markets. You can figure out quickly by analyzing using the laws of economics.
The most desirable (aesthetically pleasing) is the ucs, followed by the second edition. The second edition has lower parts count and is much smaller than the ucs. Since the s.e. already reached value approaching the ucs, it stands therefore that any new demand would gravitated to the ucs because of this. Put yourself in the shoes of a buyer. Which would you rather buy at the current price? Ucs or s.e.? It won't go higher until the price of the ucs go higher. You're looking at a ratio of about 3:1. I don't use original msrp as gauge becoz they were issued in diff years and there's tendency for lower priced sets to appreciate more. People can more readily afford cheaper stuff. The only exception is limited editions.

The UCS Falcon is the kind of "Ultimate" Star Wars purchase that extends outside the bounds of just Lego fans, appealing to a much larger universe of fans. It reigns as one of the coolest Star Wars themed collectibles of all time.

I have 6 of the midi and 3 of the mini plus the ucs. I love the smaller models but the ucs was awesome.
Even people that dont "do" lego think the ucs MF is AWESOME

UCS Falcon was the largest ever Lego set when it came out. It's still the largest Star Wars Lego kit to ever be released. It's iconic and extends outside of the Lego community to the general Star Wars fan base which is enormous.

What do you guys think about the new Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon? I think that it should be one of the top toys for Christmas 2011.
Some of my favorite Top Toys For Christmas 2011 can be found here.
Re: The Millenium Falcon Line
The 2nd edition Falcon used w/box is roughly 100% more than it was new. The UCS used w/box has gone up about 140%.
The 2nd edition one came out years before the UCS and has not increased in value as much but the little guy is holding his own pretty good considering the UCS is insanely awesome in comparison and there might be less in circulation.

Probably because of the relative affordability. As stated previously in this topic, it will probably be affected by the forthcoming release, though, making it even more affordable.peanut wrote:The 2nd edition one came out years before the UCS and has not increased in value as much but the little guy is holding his own pretty good considering the UCS is insanely awesome in comparison and there might be less in circulation.
Re: The Millenium Falcon Line
Aren't the ultimate collections limited in quantity compared to the other sets? It seems like they go fast and the only one's available are from original buyers especially the ones new in the box. Does anyone know how many UCS they make compared to a second edition?
