[USA] Series 5 at Target

Post by eriochrome » Fri Aug 26, 2011 8:01 pm

Minifigures series 5 are at target now. My store had them on the side of an end cap even down the lego aisle. Got 2 gladiators and 1 Cleopatra.

OooOo snaps. Looks like I will be hitting up or at least calling Targets in my area.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

What city did you find them in?

Nice. If 204-00-0521 is the correct DPCI it looks like every store in my area has them in stock 8-)

target.com shows Store Item Number (DPCI): 242-16-5811 for series 5, but at the moment it also says out of stock and online only, so you can't check store availability online yet, but that number should help if you call first.

I believe the mobile link works. Just need to specify the DPCI specifically in the URL.

http://sites.target.com/site/en/spot/mo ... 04-00-0521" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Update: Sorry. There is still some confusion as to the correct DPCI. The link works, but doesnt show what item is queried.

I found them at a store in South East Michigan but was at a different store today about an hour away and they were not out.

I brought in an empty Series 5 bag and scanned it at one of my Targets. It showed it was in-stock, but not on the shelves yet. I didn't bother asking this time, but you can sometimes get one of the workers to fetch a box from the back room. I've done this in the past.

I bought 6 packs today at my local Target. It was on an end cap at the end of the Lego aisle. Ended up with a Dinosaur Suit Guy and haven't opened the other 5 yet.

Ya I don't know if that number is for sure correct. Whatever it is was out of stock until the other day when S5 started popping up and then it was in-stock everywhere. Could be just a coincidence.

I sourced it from page 2 of this thread:

It was a weird day. Saw this thread and headed down to Target when I saw that they were available. Scoured every aisle and came up with nothing. Called my wife to get the dpci number and went to the customer service desk. Lady said 240 in stock in the back room. I waited for ten minutes while a stock man brought it up front. Said they weren't supposed to be released for another couple of weeks. I told him they were coming up available on the site. Anyways, I grabbed ten packs at random-it was one of the wall displays-and they might be hanging it up sooner than a couple weeks now that it's out. Happy searching.

EDIT: the dpci 204-00-0521 is the correct number-they might still be in the back if they're scanning available.

Visited my Target. Definitely not out although in the past some Dbag has been purchasing my entire Target's stock of CMFs as soon as they come out. The cashiers are just livid ringing up 120-240 of the minifigures and love to tell me about it. Grrrr.

The store that I found them at last week appears to have sold through there whole initial shipment. Found a lone minifigure when I was back today.

Found them yesterday in a random toy aisle, in one of the end cap set ups. Someone had already beaten me there and found all the gladiators. I did find 4 dwarves though. Also found at least 6 Royal Guards, 4 Cleopatras, etc. Looked like the equivalent of two boxes. Bummed about not finding any gladiators (went through at least 50 packages - all that were left).

Finally found them in my Target today... I seemed to have been the one of the first few to rummage through them, as I found a lot of Gladiators and Dwarfs which is what I was after. It was in the Lego aisle at the end, so very shocking. I think those end-cap boxes are like 2 or 3 boxes combined... As I was nearing completion rummaging through, a father came over and started picking through them as well and we struck up a conversation.... He had bought 4 and was looking for some for his son. He had figured out the 'feel' method, and was trying, but of course he was no pro like me, so I did the right thing and helped him out. I think we ended up getting 9 or 10 of the ones he was missing, and I gave him a gladiator and a dwarf to complete his set. After that I finished rummaging through and bounced... 18 figures, 17 of them Glad and Dwarves with 1 Lizardman (had to grab another of him).
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

So during my lunch break, decided to check out the other Target that is close to me in town, so got over there, looked around and couldn't find any CMFs, then viola, there they were. This box had obviously had someone go through is as some of the flaps were undone. I had 30 mins before I had to hit the road and get back to work, and was actually able to get through the entire box (I just looked for dot patterns, then felt them after). Decided I should snag a few gangster, as they are in fact.... Gangsta  Ended up walking out with another 22 CMF5s (5 Gangsters, and the remaining ones are Dwarves and Gladiators).

Mt. View, Calif Target has them in. Almost 2 complete Vertical display boxes on an end cap in the Toy Section. Not in the lego aisle, but the Die cast Car section. Also spotted were a few empty torn wrappers minus the stolen minifigs.

San Jose CA (at The Plant) Target has a little shelf one over from the Lego aisle. Luckily they seemed to not be picked through. I got my gladiator (last one I needed) and got out of there.

If you come across one of these, I suggest starting from the bottom half where they're less likely to be picked through.

Going to quote my own thread here, but it seems relevant.

Went to a second Target today - this one was hardly picked through at all. I spent 75 minutes feeling each and every bag. I found:

5 Graduates
6 Royal Guards
7 Dwarves
4 Gladiators

and didn't keep track of the rest. It was interesting to see this sort of distribution, but I suppose that since it wasn't completely full, it's possible someone picked out some Gladiators before I could get there.
