How come I didn't get one while it was available?

yea, they had a few left at the Sherway Gardens Mall Lego shop in Toronto last month, but at $130cdn plus tax, it's not a cheap set, and it's smaller that you'd think once built. I'd love to get one on sale though. They seem to re-release this set every few years, so I'll wait till next go around....

Hmmm - I don't think so. I have been checking regularly for about 4 weeks now when I suddenly noticed that it was out of stock at the US Lego Shop. I myself missed out on this as well, however, I have a friend who works for my company in our UK facility that is going to help me out. :)
