LEGO Goonies- Fake or Real?

Post by Legobrandon » Thu Dec 22, 2011 6:24 pm

A images has just been put on YouTube showcasing a couple minifigure characters from the 1985 film 'The Goonies'. The question is, is this fake or real? Take a look at the video yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ntLna4r ... e=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here is the Wikipedia page for the movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hmm, honestly not sure. Some of the figs look real, but honestly they could just be parts or other figure cobbled together. The ugly guy's head (can't remember his name after all this time) looks like a drawing. But I would have to vote fake. Why would LEGO make a set based on a 22 year old film? Time will tell I guess.

Don't necessarily think it is real, but they are suppose to make another movie, so maybe it is real.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Probably fake. Best indicator: no "Confidential" watermark over the picture. TLG would never let a pic out early without the watermark. However, if they are planning a sequel, Warner Brothers owns the rights, and TLG does have a relationship with WB. It's a possibility that that picture is a pitch that TLG created for WB to see if there was an interest in a product tie-in.

@hatcher - his name was "Chunk" :)
