This is BS. First Canadians have to pay more for the product despite the near par currency, and now we dont get to partake in special deals. This is not fair at all. Somebody should start a petition.

Is this coupon off a single set or is it off your total purchase?

Sorry, I did not see tour request before I used my coupon. Mine was a peel off...green with a Ninjago on it. It was on the top portion of the catalog. My theory is that the "peelies" allow them to just add coupons to certain catalogs and have coupon-less ones for in-store etc, instead of printing two versions.

I sent an e-mail to Lego about Canadians not getting the 10% off coupon in their catalog and this was their response. Bolded red sections added by me:
Dear ,

Thank you for your email from 01/03/12 regarding the prices of LEGO® products. (My beef was with the coupon, I guess my complaint got shuffled into the 'pesky price complainers' pile.)

We apologize that you are upset with the promotions that are available for LEGO consumers in Canada. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any (any?) information on a 10% off promotion for US consumers that you mentioned in your email. (I mentioned the catalog, yet somehow she has no idea what I'm talking about?) If you have any additional info on this promotion, I would be happy to explain further. In general, we offer promotions in various markets throughout the year, so it is possible that a Canadian promotion will be coming up soon. (Unlikely; it would be a first!) Please know that it is not our intention to treat our loyal Canadian consumers unfairly. It just happens anyways and we can't be bothered to fix it.

I wanted to speak to your complaint regarding the price differences between US and Canada as well. Due to differences in economics around the world, prices are determined by the demographics of specific countries. There are also differences in taxes, exchange rates and market value of our products. (True, but if it is possible for consumers to buy across the border for cheaper overall, you're probably charging too much.) Also, the laws of a country can affect the way prices are stated. For instance, prices in the US are shown without sales taxes while in Europe the prices stated to the consumer must include VAT. (Obvious form letter is obvious. I'm sure the last bit was for the many European price complaints).

As a company, we believe all of our products are priced accordingly and produced with the highest quality materials. In addition, we stand by the quality of each and every product we produce to ensure you and your family can enjoy LEGO products from one generation to the next. Above all, the LEGO Group is dedicated to the fundamental development of children through play, discovery and creativity.

Thank you again for contacting us. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this email or call one of our friendly Customer Care Advisors at 1-800-835-4386 (from within the US or Canada) or 1-860-749-0706 (from outside the US or Canada). We are available Monday through Friday from 8AM - 10PM EST and Saturday through Sunday from 10AM to 6PM EST. Please have your reference number handy if you need to get in touch with us:

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I was expecting something more from Lego's 'stellar' customer service. The Lego Company is lucky that it has fans who are crazy enough about the product that are willing to put up with a lot; to be honest Canadians don't even have it all that bad; those in Australia/New Zealand really get shafted. :problem:

This is the response I got after emailing LEGO customer service 3 times. Apparently they had no clue about the 10% coupon so I emailed them the pic slacker posted. Then I found out that customer service can not view pictures or attachments in emails so I thoroughly described the coupon to them in the 3rd email and this was the response I got...
We appreciate your interest in the recent LEGO promotional offer for LEGO Club promotion. At times, there are promotions that are sent out to customers that live within a 10 mile radius of a LEGO Brand Retail store. These promotions are valid only in store. I do apologize that you did not receive one of these promotions. I wish I was able to send a discount out to you, but unfortunately, the coupons are generated by address. For more information on this promotion, please contact our Consumer Services Department directly or visit http://www.LEGO.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
I'm not sure what the January 2012 catalog has to do with the LEGO Club? Also according to Google maps the Columbus LEGO store is exactly 8.5 miles from my house.

If I were LEGO I would want the coupons to go to potential customers outside of the 10 mile radius to help cover the cost of gas. The impression I'm getting is basically LEGO stores are only catering towards local repeat customers and could care less if you happen to live further than 10 miles away from the local store.

Great customer service from LEGO retailers seems to be lacking in 2012. :problem:

@sweener. I just called my local LEGO store directly and gave them my VIP number and told them I misplaced my catalogue. They said no problem and would honor the discount when I came in.

Maybe you could try calling your local store directly? :D

Oooh. I forgot about those mini modulars! I was going to use the 10% for the Death Star. Decisions, decisions.

[update: they gave me the discount happily, sweener, so it should work for you too. And I got the Deathstar - 10% + double VIP points was too nice to pass up.]

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't asking about the calendar. I was wondering about the catalog....
