Too violent? Perhaps, but I thought that was why they initially stopped Harry Potter at year 4.

Overall though, I think these will be must-have sets. Better start saving my pennies! I wonder if there will be any large "tower" sets?

It's kind of scary when Gollum looks almost.... cute!

Overall, I'm very pleased with what I've seen of this so far. My 9 year old son was disappointed, for the most part, with the Kingdom series. He loves castle but didn't like that they took away the fantasy element in Kingdoms. So even though castle is out of the picture right now, this theme will help fill the void.

I swear I was on this site when I saw the LEGO LOTR board game (like Heroica). Now I can't find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I am really hoping 9471 hits at $24.99 That would be the sweet spot for a set like this that is crucial for building armies of baddies!

Very nice fortress and castle sets with moderate/general color theme that I should easily plug them into my "Kingdom" and "Fantasy Era" sets. When "kingdom" theme was discontinued, I thought I could give my bank account a break. Now, it seems I need to keep an eye on upcoming deals, and hold the horses for other theme sets.

BTW, "The Battle Of Helm's Deep 9474 " could be used as a gateway for my castles and Medieval Market/Mill Village. Originally, I planned to use my kingdoms Joust as a gateway. Now, I have to find a new spot for it.

Thanks for the HD pics.

I am sorry, but this is in no way a decent replacement for Kingdoms/Castle. NONE of these sets looks anywhere near complete, they all look like they are missing more than half of the set. Where's all the detail that we were getting with the Medieval Market Village, Kingdoms Joust, and Mill Village Raid, looks like it all went out the door. I do so hope they release more KIngdoms sets this summer.

These look really nice and I intend to buy them all, but at the same time I would hope they continue the Kingdoms sets.
I'd sure like to see Treebeard in a future wave!

I love the new horses! Also Shelob attacks is my favorite! LEGO has been really great recently with the $20 sets, The $20 city sets are great, the lex luthor power armor set was my favorite of all the first wave superhero sets and now shelob attacks! Great values for the budget minded and people who love a good impulse buy!

I hope they continue the trend where "army packs" give you a wall section for Helm's Deep.

I saw on EB a picture shown that proves a LEGO Hobbit board game is coming later this year.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/47496150@N05/6866733101/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No details except that it is Hobbit and not the trilogy. I was hoping for a Helm's Deep board game with tons of micro Uruk-Hai and Elves/soldiers.

I would really like to microfig/miniscale my collection as much as possible. Heroica/Battle of Hoth/Super Star Destroyer/midi-scale Star Destroyer/mini-X-Wing/TIEs has been helping.

LEGO The Orc Forge 9476 Lord of the Rings

Post by Toys N Bricks » Fri Apr 27, 2012 6:01 am

Apparently, the German online retailer Wog.ch also has a picture of the limited edition LEGO Lord of the Rings 9476 The Orc Forge set. Available summer 2012. Thanks to Ryan once again for the heads up.

I always wonder why I see on some sites or eBay listings images of the package with number of pieces missing.
I'm assuming they're some prototype/beta stage of packaging (or a rendering), but it concerns me when a store or ebay seller uses those as their product image for sale (exception being pre-order of course).

Hopefully they plan to release Saruman and his tower. Otherwise they missed to include him in the Orc Forge. I'd rather have Orcs and Uruk-Hai in that set for sure as long as Saruman gets some release. Saruman's tower would be awesome with an attacking Ent.

Looks like it went from 5 minifigs down to 4.

I think only the North American editions of sets have the number of pieces displayed on the box. The European editions only show the item number.
