Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
So I was at the south end Walmart in Barrie last night looking for collectible mini figures (no luck) and saw that they had a LOT of toys on clearance. They had a whole aisle by the toy section on clearance, and about 6 or more in aisle displays full of toys on clearance, including lego. The highlight of the find was the Mace Windu Jedi Starfighter rolled back to $30. Other sets on clearance that I can remember include the Ultimate build Mater for $20, and the MILL (POTC) for $30. They had lots of other sets on clearance like the Geonosian starfighter (#0 down ffrom $39.99) but even the clearance prices weren't very good, like the City Harbour set for $90 (down from $119). Anyway, like I said, YMMV.

Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
RFD member 4got10 in AB has reported seeing Mace Windu Jedi fighter at 20 , city harbour at 45 and marina at 25 and etc
So definitely YMMV
Hope I can find one marina at that price.

Your mileage may vary.lowbike1 wrote:what does ymmv mean?
Basically if means that Walmarts price things on a store by store basis. For example, there are two Walmarts in Barrie, and a few months ago one of them was selling White Cap Bay for $50, and the other was still selling it at $99.99

Agree, while one Walmart had the Mace Windu Jedi fighter for regular price, yet another have them on clearance for $25.hatcher wrote:Your mileage may vary.lowbike1 wrote:what does ymmv mean?

Yup, I prefer the 2007 version too but that one is selling for like $150+ and shipping won't be cheap either.Legobrandon wrote:Harbour at $45 isn't bad. But the 2007 version was much better.
I just visited my local WM and they had plenty harbour, marina, starfighter.
They were all in clerance but unfortunately, the price is nothing comparable to OP list.
Harbour $90 Marina $55 Starfighter $40
Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
Got Mace Windu Jedi fighter for $10 at St. Albert Walmart. They are completely sold out.
Harbor was $45 and Marina was $25 in Spruce Grove. Plenty of stock left. However Mace Windu Jedi fighter was $20. General Grivious Starfighter was $30 but they had non left so I bought one at Edmonton walmart west for $60 and price adjusted it when I was in Spruce Grove without any problems.

Darn, I wish they had those kind of markdowns here in Ontario... $45 for the Harbour set is amazing... It's still $90 in the WallMart here...kokot wrote:Got Mace Windu Jedi fighter for $10 at St. Albert Walmart. They are completely sold out.

Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
Yeah $45 would be nice for the harbour. Wish I saw a White Cap Bay for $45 too. Heck, I'd settle for a Black Pearl for 90.
Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
Agreed - White Cap Bay for $45 would be nice... my local WalMarts don't even have them in stock anymore so it won't work...

Scanning through the US Walmart Clearance thread makes me green with envy. I'm in Ontario. Hopfully we will get the discounts Alberta is seeing soon.

Well I went to Walmart today and found nothing mentioned above on clearance. In fact, they did not have most of the sets in stock at the moment. Another disappointing day. :(

My understanding (from talking to someone who used to work at wal mart) is that their clearance pricing is on a store by store basis and is up to the department heads/store manager to decide which items to mark down as they have a set amount of markdown dollars in the store or by department (can't remember which) so if your store doesn't have trouble moving lego normally then they won't bother with the larger discounts in all liklihood. I could be wrong but that was my understanding of how their clearance works.
Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
That is fact, since I recall hearing the same thing from people I know whom worked there or simply talking to people working there now.Joseywales wrote:My understanding (from talking to someone who used to work at wal mart) is that their clearance pricing is on a store by store basis and is up to the department heads/store manager to decide which items to mark down as they have a set amount of markdown dollars in the store or by department (can't remember which) so if your store doesn't have trouble moving lego normally then they won't bother with the larger discounts in all liklihood. Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
Today I got Bounty Hunter Gunship (7930) for $33 in Drayton Valley.
Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
Yes - the department heads (well, usually there is only one full time permanent person per department - but they call them heads or department managers) get an allotted $ amount for markdowns. Then they can decide what they mark down within this $ amount. Hence, if you're lucky, you can find markdowns up to 80% sometimes and other times a meager $1 off a $100 set... It's a matter of wait and see. What doesn't move gets marked down even further on a weekly basis...dulait wrote:That is fact, since I recall hearing the same thing from people I know whom worked there or simply talking to people working there now.Joseywales wrote:My understanding (from talking to someone who used to work at wal mart) is that their clearance pricing is on a store by store basis and is up to the department heads/store manager to decide which items to mark down as they have a set amount of markdown dollars in the store or by department (can't remember which) so if your store doesn't have trouble moving lego normally then they won't bother with the larger discounts in all liklihood. Walmart in gatineau here has Mace Windu for 40$ (Which is not very good), Advent Calendars for 35$, White Cap Bay for 69.90$ and other smaller sets. I am waiting for Mace Windu to go further down, they have a whole bunch of them.

Re: Further Walmart rollbacks YMMV
I discovered Lego Clearance at Capilano Mall. Talked to toy section manager, and she said the mark down was decided by head office (not determined by department manager). Thus, the clearance discount is store-basis.
