I think Octick's theory is correct.

I still don't have a theory why some things go from full price to 50% or better in one week while others stay at 30% for months. Heck my local Wally still has tons of SW Advents for 50%. Can we please get a 70%+ higher discount, so I can buy one.

What is your local walmart? I swear I went to every one in South and Central OC...

Have you been to the stores in Hemet yet? I'm going to visit my parents there this weekend so I thought I'd hit up the Walmarts there. Glad to know I can skip Corona on my way there at least.

I was at the Hemet super center about a week ago and they had shelves that were both well-stocked (a lot of stuff that has been clearanced elsewhere) and organized according to recent planograms. Not a particularly good sign. In a separate clearance section they had a couple PQ Sphinxes and one King's Carriage at 70% off, and a ripped-open SW Advent calendar, and that's about it.

Been on the hunt for awhile here in OC (California). Walmarts and Targets I checked had nothing on clearance. Kept my hopes up and finally found some stuff. Black Pearls for $50, but it wasn't on clearance. It had a handwritten sign sale was for 2/10-2/12. Almost wiped out of old inventory, but any they had was still full price. Checked another Walmart and Black Pearls were full price. Both stores had around 15-20. 2nd Walmart did have the Cars Flo's V8 Cafe thought for 50%.

Total Haul:
$50 2 x Black Pearl (one for a friend)
$30 1 x Flo's V8 Cafe

Happy, but envious of other people's big finds. Continuing the hunt, but inventories of good stuff is getting very low or non-existent.

I have another flatbed to unload and more invetory to check so theres more. Thats just the stuff I have inventoried and in my system.

The Red Balloon sale goes on until March 3rd. There are walmarts out there completely unscathed. Last night I went to a Walmart I hadn't visited yet and they still had quite a good stock of clearance Lego. I was able to pick up a few Wampa caves and the slave one at that location. So they are out there folks. Make a trip of it. YMMV, some walmarts are a complete miss. One Walmart will have no lego clearance at all, and another a few miles down the road will have an entire isle of Clearance Lego.

A few stores were sitting on Plo Koon's Starfighter at $12.50 for a few weeks until they finally sold out. And a few stores still have Advent Calendars, PQ sets (Pyramid,snake,Sphinx),Ninjago Nuckles ATV, and cars sets marked down at 1/2 off.


There are untouched Walmarts out there. But time is running out. Happy Hunting!

PS REMEMBER TO CHECK GARDEN SECTION OF WALMARTS OR LOOK FOR RED CLEARANCE BALLOON SECTION!!

My employees have been finding clearance Lego in the strangest of locations within the store. Toy clearance isles are scattered about, and there is no method to the madness other than looking for red balloons, and often they are close to garden section. not even close to toy section.

I hit a Walmart this morning and was happy to see QAR sitting in the clearance isle. I thought I finally found it, but the sticker was $100 and the cashier wouldn't budge. I did find a few Cars sets and some other POC sets, that were on sale, but not quite 50% off. The cashier said that the stick was 50% off, but the math didn't add up. Oh, well, I'll keep looking. I also found Wreaths and Snowmen, full price of course.

Visiting in Florida, in the north east its easy to find the clearance isle (Garden area, cause its winter time) Where is the clearance isle normally in Walmarts. I hot one walmart in Melborne only 3 shelves in the middle of the store.

thats the date I found as well. some signage with an expiration date of March 3rd. Makes sense as the sale would likely wrap up the end of the first quarter/start of the second qaurter.

If I find any QAR , BP's and MF's at Walmarts I'll let everyone know. As of yet nothing in the western PA/Ohio/WV area.

I've yet to find anything, but living in WY means that there is a lot of space between Walmarts. I went to 2, Laramie and Cheyenne, but found noting on sale. However, I was finally able to get a hold of some CMF 6s, finally.

it was the Forest Hills Walmart east on route 30 near 376. They had 3 Hogwarts Express looked like they pulled them from the back the boxes had been damaged. I bought 2 of the 3. The third box had slight damage. I'd call them and ask if its still there. I usually always try to leave a set or 2 for other collectors,kids, or investors. But if I go back later and merchandise is still there, I'll snag it all up.

I found it in the red balloon clearance section near garden supplies.

Also, it was the only Wal Mart out of about 8 I found Hogwarts Express. So think its rare to find them. as if they found a crushed case in the back after christmas.

Im going to hit up Walmarts in south Pittsburgh, West Virginia area today, I'll post what I find and whats still left.

edit: I went to 2 locations today south and west of Pittsburgh.

Found roughly 20 Kingdoms 7949 Prison carriage rescue at one location for $7 each. I picked up 8 or so.
At the same store they had lots of World Racer and a few Space police sets on clearance. I was surprised they still had Space police. The limo I think it was.

At the other location the only Lego clearance they had left were 3 T-6 Jedi Shuttles for $30 each. I picked them up.

Further east towards the Harrisburg/Chambersburg area (central PA) there are several unscathed Walmarts. I called one location and they had Anakins Podracers, Sith Infiltrator, T-6 Jedi Shuttle and White Cap Bay (multiples of each) all for 1/2 off. So I'll head that way later in the week.

Nationwide it looks like you'll find the best deals in the mid Northeast part of the USA (Ohio,NJ,PA) and the west coast,(Cali coast cities). Random deals in the midwest/bible belt/ south east seem to be scattered about with little to no red balloon clearances but you can find the occassional Black Pearl or QAR for 30-50% off.

Overall, Cars, World racers,Hero factory and PQ sets are still fairly common to find in the red balloon clearance isles.

I'm here in the midwest and all I have seen so far is a T-6 Jedi Shuttle for $30 which I picked up. I've been checking every time I go to our Wal-Mart with no luck. I'd love to be able to pick up the Podracers and the Sith Infiltrator for my little boy but where I am they are still, unfortunately, full price.

I've gone so far as to check three other wal-marts that have been up to a little more than an hour away from where I live with no luck at all.

I just don't get why these sales are as random as they appear to be. I think what has been posted before makes sense about the redistribution of products and what not... i just wish I had the opportunity to pick up some of these sets for the great discounts that others are getting them for.

I'm not a collector or reseller really... I am just stockpiling sets (Harry Potter and Star Wars mostly) to give to my son when he is old enough. He is just over one year old now and I can't wait to give them to him someday.... it just pains me that I can't afford the big sets at full price and I don't have any opportunity to get them on discount. Oh well, I'll keep checking.... it's a shame I'm not in PA or OH... seems like you all hit the jackpot.

I don't think you want to say that. there's a reason you keep hearing about the "jackpot", it's because those guys were sweeping up whatever they found. it's actually a curse because when you read about it, it's already gone because these guys have gone through the store and swept up anything of value!
