German Toy Fair reveals Jabba’s Palace (9516) and More!

Post by Toys N Bricks » Fri Feb 10, 2012 3:35 pm

Eurobricks has posted a couple LEGO Star Wars 2012 pictures from the German Nuremberg Toy Fair. There's also a video showcasing the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars Jabba's Palace 2012 set (also 9416 Desert Skiff). I'm also looking forward to the new Queen Amidala minifigure in the Gungan Sub set!

LEGO 9499 Gungan Sub (4 minifigures)

LEGO 9516 Jabba's Palace (10 minifigures)

Here's the video for LEGO Jabba's Palace. After the demonstration, you can also see the LEGO Desert Skiff (9496) set!

Is the guy taking the video the one person on the planet who knows nothing about Star Wars?

Anyway. Looks like it's going to be an expensive year for me in relation to Star Wars sets. And did my eyes deceive me or is the Gungan Sub motorized?

I was trying to figure out if it was motorized too! But I noticed the tie fighters had lights in them that i don't believe are on the regular set so it might have been a display gimmick. I wonder how much the Skiff and Palace sets will cost, i am hoping the Palace set will not break the $100 mark.....

Hoping the price for the Palace is less than $100.

Nice to see good number of minifigures coming with both sets. Jabba Palace is as good as I have expected, glad to see the drop down feature. Tower's design is looking much better than the prelim. pics. This set gonna be one of the most popular 2012 star war set.

That's what the demo staff said, that Jabba palace will be the hottest sw set in 2012.

I agree. It's not that big but with eight minifigs it has to be one of the most minifig-heavy sets in a while. And there's only three un-named minifigs (the twilek dancer, a gamorrean, and the brain-in-a-jar priest). After a quick check of Bricklink it looks like it's tied for fourth most minifigs with a number of older sets.

Just when I was starting to get bored of the Star Wars sets. Jabba's Palace and the Desert Skiff look really good. It's also nice to see some more original trilogy sets.
