Pick-a-brick @Lego Store vs @Online Shop

Does anyone know if there is any difference betwee, PAB from a Lego Store vs from shop.lego.com?

Which way is cheaper? Which one have higher variety of brick to be chosen?

p.s. Hello all, I am new to this site.I come from Hongkong. Just start playing LEGO again (well, I played technic when I was 10) after seeing the new DC series.

Piece to piece, PAB store wall is "cheaper". However, it is limited to selection and completely depends on the piece you need. The lego.com PaB is more expensive (bout 20-50 cents per piece) but you have a better chance of getting the exact thing. Remember that it takes a couple of weeks to get things from the online PaB, since it is hand sorted in Poland.

I think one of the advantanges would be saving on the shipping cost when getting it at the store. But like dho7622u mentioned, you have a smaller selection.

Also welcome to Toys N Bricks! While I don't like the LEGO prices there, Hong Kong is a nice city with lots of little toy shops that sells LEGO. You can find almost anything there.

p.s. Comparing the prices, I think: US < Canada < HK < Singapore/Taiwan < Europe < Australia / NZ. The prices in small LEGO retailers here are usually 10%~30% off when compare to the recommended price in HK TRU.

p.p.s Australian / NZ / European tourist can go to a local shopping mall called "In's Point" (which is at Yau Ma Tei MTR station). There are about 10 small LEGO retailers here.

It is rather unfortunate and I feel really sorry for the people living in Australia. The only good prices in Europe/Asia for LEGO would be minifigures/magnets/accessories because they're made in China. All the other stuff (especially license sets) are all very expensive.

Last year when I went there for vacation, I think I went to Sino Center. Was looking for a 7868 Mace Windu's Jedi Starfighter set since I couldn't get it in Canada at that time. I believe one store had it but was selling it for around $500. It was way too expensive so I waited for it to get to Canada. Thanks for the tip on In's Point. If I do happen to drop by Hong Kong again, I'll definately add it onto my travel list. :)
