Value Appreciation of LEGO trains

I found an interesting article on the reddit.com lego site about how the value of the LEGO train theme has appreciated quite a bit over time. I actually had one or two of these, but they are long gone now. I sold them to buy new sets, but I sure wish i had them now. I am going to look for a Emerald Night set again though

EN is definitely not 9V (same with a few of the others mentioned in the article). But, trains do tend to do well in the secondary market after discontinuation.

EN passenger cart was around $60 when the set was $100. That's insane.
