Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Local Walmart just had:
Whitecap Bay marked from 79.88 to $54.00
Queen Anne's Revenge from 119.88 to $79.00
Seems like a pretty good deal, too bad I didn't $79.00 at the time.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Ah, missed that. I wouldn't count on finding that most places, but it seems the rest of what you found is starting to be universal across the board.brickster90 wrote:Because someone earlier reported that some were 50%-60% off. I found all Super Hero sets to be regularly priced as well.
Also, everyone: In order to actually be helpful, please post the location at which you found these deals, or set your location in the User Control Panel to something a bit more specific than 'somewhere in the universe'. Without a location, this is just a glorified bragging topic, and we already have one of those. A big 'Thank You!' to everyone who already does this!
Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
My local Walmart finally had some stuff on clearance sale. I bought out all the $7 Forbidden Forest save for 2 that were crushed badly and had busted seam, could be missing pieces. Also I picked up $25 Hagrid's Hut, $30 Hogwarts Castle (smaller version) and $89 Hogwarts Castle (big version). I left behind the purple knight bus as they were $35. They also had clone turbo tank on sale but none other although empty spot on the shelves suggested I missed out clearance PotC sets. :/
Second Walmart store was picked clean. The only sets they have that aren't new this year was a large Space Police ship for $98, still too much. I'm going to swing by a third Walmart on my way to a social event tonight to see what's left.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Just hit the jackpot. Now I can rest until next Christmas.
Millennium Falcon: $50
Frigate: $50

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Are these in the regular toy section or in the clearance section? I've never seen Lego on clearance here in Hawaii (except the $5 watches), and I've been told by employees they never go on clearance.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Me too! I have been checking out several walmarts near me and none have had ANY clearance legos. In fact, a few actually pulled the Millennium Falcon and Republic Frigates completely. No clearance or markdown. It's really starting to unnerve me.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Went to a couple of Wal-Marts down here in San Diego. Nothing spectacular, but did find some deals. Came across a General Greivous Starfighter for $25.00 at the Oceanside (El Camino) Wal-Mart. Then I found, of all things, a Slave 1 marked at $63.00 which I found to be pretty random at the Poway Wal-Mart. Nothing else really eye catching. I did stumble across a wall of empty lego watches that were marked with red clearance tags for $5.00 each, so alas, I have no way of knowing if the watches were Star Wars, which would have interested me, or the regular boy and girl minifigure ones, which I have little interest in.
Anyway, looks like the usual random Wal-Mart clearance to me. I scanned a ton of sets, including Harbors, Marina's, Ligthouses, Podracer, Sith Infiltrator... nothing else rang up on sale.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
False alarm on both and warning for all. Got home and opened both sets. Inside the Slave 1 was a single giant zip lock bag containing an unknown amount of the pieces (Bobba Fett was there but already built and played with no doubt). As for the general grievous star fighter bag 1 was noticeably light as it was missing both key minifgs and bag four was inexplicably gone. The grievous one was particularly disturbing in that the box was perfectly sealed and had zero shelf wear. In fact I could not even figure out how bag one had been opened as it also looked perfectly sealed. However there was gift wrapping and tape still on the back of the box.
It is really sad that people return used/incomplete items or worse yet, still the key pieces. Needless to say I will be returning both tonight. Let this be a lesson to all. Open any Walmart clearance Lego PRONTO!!!

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
It's funny you should mention these things lawpepperdine because the Falcon and Frigate I scored both had suspect boxes. I opened the Falcon at the store because it had a big old tear on the side of the box, even though the seals were intact, and everything looked to be there. I opened the Frigate at home which had been resealed on one end and it was strange because though all the bags were sealed, there was a small bag with the Yoda minifigure and one of the troopers already built. How is that possible? Never seen that before.
Anyone know if there's a way of finding how many numbered bags there should be in each of these sets? I want to be sure.

It's odd because one would think if someone was taking pieces, Yoda wouldn't be there. Everything looks to be there.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
The instructions manuals will tell you have many bags, because you build by bag number. To check and make sure you have all the instruction manuals to check the bags go to Lego.com or brickset, enter set # and download instructions.
I agree though, does not look like one where someone stole, but maybe has been used? I once bought a mill village raid at marshalls that had been used and returned. All bags were sealed but one and all pieces but one were there (I ordered the piece from Lego). However, there was also an extra bag from hoth wampa camp with all minifigs from the set, except wampa body (only arms). It was strange. Obviously some kid used it and his parent or someone returned it.

Thanks man. Yeah, I looked at the manuals but it unclear because it will show #1 for example but there are like 4 different #1 bags in the box. I'll poke around online and see if anyone has a picture of the bags laid out pre-build.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
The Frigate was raided for the mini-figures and returned. #@!$%!
All the bags were sealed and accounted for except for the one containing the 2 built mini-figures which had a tiny micro-tear in the bag. Yoda is the ONLY one belonging to the set. Clone Commander Wolffe and the Wolfpack Clone Trooper were replaced by a generic Clone Trooper. Eeth Koth and Quinlan Vos are not there. WTF. I'm assuming Lego isn't in the habit of replacing missing mini-figure bags? They've been great in the past but that's probably a bit much to ask. Maybe I'll try exchanging without a receipt at another Walmart, making sure to tell them WHY I'm returning it.
Now onto the Falcon. Pretty sure everything was there on that one.
Careful folks.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Lego is really great with their customer service, so they might, however they are much more reluctant with star wars stuff because of the liecensing. However, it is worth a call to them. They just want to make sure purchased the item and are not requesting figs when you didn't. They just ask for the proof of purchase info and will probably send you missing guys if you ask. Worst case they say no and you return it.
Good thing you checked though, would have sucked if you saved the set for down the road only to be disappointed.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
I was planning on checking because of the condition of the boxes but thanks to you for hastening my response. Of course the box that was more beat up (which I quickly checked at the customer service desk) is the one where everything is present. I wouldn't have been as quick to re-check the Frigate, but the built figs was a red flag.
I'll try Lego first. Have dealt with them before and they were really great, never for mini-figures though.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
In regards to the seemingly sealed bags with built figs, it is possible to reseal a bag with a heat source, maybe that is what happened. I suppose its even possible to put the minfigures together inside the bag without
opening it if all the right pieces are in the same bag.
Now on to my Walmart finds:
Checked two Walmarts today. One had no HP or POTC sets and no sets even on sale.
The other Walmart had:
Hagrids Hut $30
Hogwarts Castle(big) $90
The Mill $30
AC Mothership $40 (oddly, the Jet Copter was still MSRP making them the same price)
PotC QAR $80
HP The Forbidden Forest $7
PotC Captains Cabin $7
PotC Cannibal Escape $21
I picked up another Captains Cabin and The Forbidden Forest but nothing else. The discounts are decent but I'm not that into Harry Potter so unless the HP stuff hits 50% I'll probably pass, but I might go for the PotC QAR cause I like the ships and the Dutchman pirates and I already have the Black Pearl and the Imperial Flagship and maybe the Cannibal Escape for the figs. Mostly watching the SW sets though, especially the Sith Infiltrator!

Markerpk,
Which CA walmarts are you hitting up. I'm down in sd but have a friend in San bernardino area reporting identical finds to what you are mentioning on HP and POTC

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
It seems that Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter are almost universally on clearance at Wal Mart now. Stopped by the Grand Chute WI store and found most of the sets from these two themes on clearance (same prices as noted above). I finally picked up Whitecap Bay, which I want for the castle-friendly color palette (and the mermaids). At $54, that's over 30% off which was the price point I was waiting for.
Interestingly, no Alien Conquest, City (Marina/Harbor and Space subthemes), or Creator (Lighthouse, Log Cabin) on sale yet. I suspected they would be, but not yet. I've been holding off on the Lighthouse for a 30% sale, so I'm glad it wasn't on sale yet because my wallet could use the time to recover.

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Not in the Bay Area. I visited many stores and they either had nothing on clearance, or, I found out, had clearanced out all their PotC six weeks ago... it must have been JUST after my last visit! One toy department manager told me they had a whole endcap of Black Pearls for $15! I was seething. Why the hell did they do a reset during a period when no new sets were coming out? They still have no LotR or MF inventory (and only a couple Avengers sets) and no place to put it so they'll have to reset again in a couple weeks at most. Insanity!meyerc13 wrote:It seems that Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter are almost universally on clearance at Wal Mart now.
Best I came up with was Spongebob Dutchman for 20% off plus an extra 3.00 off as an apology because it rung up wrong at the register compared to the shelf tag. That was a nice deal, I've been wanting that green ghost captain bad even though I hate Spongebob.
