WTT: lego sets to complete SW collection

Well I am about just done giving up on collecting all the SW sets ever made (1999-2012) so here's a last ditch effort before starting to sell or pass off the collection. I know this is a long shot as I don't know the profile of the membership here but it involves some older OOP sets which you would have to had started collecting earlier than mid 2000. this wanted ad has also been posted on fbtb forums.

The only sets I am missing are: gungan sub, death star II, blue box AT AT (I got couple of the black box), and 7152 vader tie and y wing. Its been at this stagnant state for the last 5 years so its now or never.

I was looking for all misb but not willing to spend on that for the sub and death star (but misb wanted for the blue box at at and 7152). So I am looking for that special collector that's missing a few sets and willing to part with these and must have at least 1 out the 2 requested misb items to be worthwhile, considering I can easily get the gungan sub on ebay or bricklink for example.

I can offer a mix of sets to trade and paypal balance in USD

Wow, gold chrome c3po is $300+ now?

I'm interested in that but I don't think I can even fork out $200 for it. Can't believe I thought $80-100 was expensive enough when they first came out. :(

I actually saw on ebay someone paid $500 for one. I had about 5 of these at one time and even though I paid $80-110 for them, I passed them on/sold them relatively cheap for $100-140. That was all during the first year when they came up. Should have held on to them! Fortunately I kept one for myself! If this was requested as part of the trade for the sets I need, I would definitely not put a value of $300-500 for the trade...sure maybe $300 for cash grab but its only available for trading. However, its all relative as what I am after could also be and likely inflated.

For $500, I'd rather get a Death Star.

If its a trade for discontinued sets vs discontinued sets, then its not as bad. (i.e 7676 republic gunship straight trade for c3po). That would still work out to be around $100-140 which means you'll be getting the price when they first came out.

By the way, I actually really wonder what those 5 lucky folks did with their solid gold c3po minifigures. I would assume they melted the minifigure and sold it? :)

I don't see the point in melting it...the value is the value in gold....I would think you could get a premium for being a collectible made from solid gold. I don't know the troy weight of the 3po, but I would expect gold value +500-1k...if not insanely more since it was in fact a star wars collectible. Something of this rarity could go for stratospheric amounts as long as 2 people really wanted the item and it was put up for auction.

I do agree that it should be worth more than the value of gold. But I'm not sure who would buy it for their collection as this minifigure has too much value in it. Its just too risky as you could easily lose it.

I'm more of a risk adverse person so if I had it, I would either melt it or put it in a safety deposit box instead. If I really want a gold c3po in my collection, I would just go for the gold plated for as it looks exactly the same as the solid gold one anyways. Only way you can tell that its solid gold is if you actually cut it open or melt it. :)

FYI: If the figure has 3 ounces, melting it would be $5000+ already.

I am willing to bet the weight would be substantially different than the plated minifg, but I really do not know what the total would be for the solid fig. Believe it or not, I know several gold enthusiasts would gladly pay the melt rate plus a substantial premium....5k may sound outrageous but when backed by a REAL tangible value as well as the extreme limited number I would not be surprised to see one double the melt value easily on an auction site.
