I voted 'I'm okay with it, because it seems like everything that goes in there could have gone into the Sales and Deals forum.

vynsane, here, representing the defense. ;)

As my suggestion was at least part of the impetus for the creation of the 'LEGO Availability' forum, I'll voice my reasoning why it should not be part of the 'Sales and Deals' forum.
  • 'Just Found' is news relative to new product releases, whereas 'Sales and Deals' are generally about older products (especially in the case of clearances) - or at least those that have been out for a certain amount of time.
  • 'Sales and Deals' are generally categorized by retailer (TRU having a BOGO sale) whereas 'Just Found' is more specific to the product line (2010 Harry Potter hitting shelves)
  • They're both time-sensitive, but in different ways. 'Availability' is about 'these are here, now, go get them if you want them!' whereas 'Sales and Deals' are about 'these sets will be on sale between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX'
  • 'Availability' is more geographically sensitive (2010 Harry Potter spotted in greater Los Angeles area) whereas 'Sales and Deals' are more wide-spread (all [US] TRUs have a BOGO sale).

The points I delineate above are reasons why they shouldn't go in the 'Sales and Deals' forum, but the proof is in the pudding: They weren't in there - for the most part they were sprinkled about - some in the 'Sales and Deals' area, but most were in the 'LEGO Original', 'LEGO License' or 'LEGO Star Wars' fora, usually tacked onto the end of the 'new product news' topics or else posted in a separate topic.

That said, while a great many of the pertinent topics have been moved, there's room for improvement in order to make the 'LEGO Availability' forum more useful. Should we post findings by geographic location (Just found in Michigan)? Should it be by product (Summer 2010 Space Police sets hitting shelves)? Or a combination of the two (2010 Harry Potter sets found in Texas)? Online findings would obviously be exempt from geographic specificity.

I'm in line with Vynsane here. When finding a new set released at a store, or finding LEGO in an odd place, such as stores that usually do not carry LEGO, I was at odds to find a place to post. With the Availability forum there's a nice centralized place for them.
