Traveling with Lego Set on Airplane?

Does anyone know if it is ok to use a lego set as a carry on.
I am out of town on a business trip and Scored one of the Lego City Mine sets for 39.99 (thank you forum!) and Now I am trying to figure out if it can travel with me on the plane.
It will not fit in my check in bag. The box is pretty big. But it does measure within the carry on bag requirements.

Building the mind on the fold out tray? Good luck. LOL I don't see why not, nothing illegal in plastic bricks. But not sure though. I would suggest building something smaller like a few polys or the Creator plastic tins.

If it fits inside the requirements like you say, that is enough. Another option is to open and throw away the box, and put the polybags inside a backpack or other traditional sort of carry-on.

The only thing is that TSA may want to open the box and if thats OK with you than I think it will probably be OK to carry it on with you. Also you want to make sure the airlines you are going on will allow it as well.

I go to Vegas every year, and I typically buy stuff (ex: a Spray paint picture) that are often 'large' and bulky. I've never had an issue bringing it on the plane. If it's too lage to fit under the seat, normally the flight crew will offer to place it in the storage locker at the entrance of the plane (where the pilots hang their suit coats).

Thanks for all the advice.. I was able to get it on no problem even though it measured above the 22" listed limit. Both plane staff were very accommodating and helpful.
