I can't seem to find the Mirkwood Elf or Gandalf polybag anywhere on the ToyRus website? Could they have just removed them? I even found a link to the product via google but it just takes me to the ToysRus "zero results" page. :/

... the Elves were only available online for ~24 hours one week ago.

I didnt even hear of the Elves till yesterday, they were online when the Hobbit sets were temporarily available for the BOGO, but quickly disappeared.

I picked up the Hobbit Unexpected Gathering and Attack of the Wargs. With the BOGO 50% off, recent Groupon deal, and a few TRU rewards bucks, I was able to get them both for around 20% off the real MSRP. Toys R Us really makes you work for a decent deal

Toys R Us in Natick Mass has at least 30 Mirkwood elves. I bought 2 of them

So on what basis does TRU refuse Hobbit sets BOGO50? They are construction sets and not on exclusion list. I saw them at a local TRU today. They DID ring up BOGO50, although i didn't buy any due to their jacked-up prices.

FWIW check your local TRU B&M the two near me both have Hobbit sets in stock and there appears to be no restriction on them.

Same here...had no problems buying them at my store either.

In the Rockville, MD store - Technic sets are selling about 10%(larger more expensive sets) to 20% (smaller and less expensive sets) above MSRP. For example, When TRU put the Technic Red Jet 9394 on sale last time it went for 49.99 and now its back to 59.99 (the Lego.com MSRP is 49.99 but they are out of stock right now).marcusloignon wrote:I think you have a good point about the markup. However, my contact at the local Lego store told me that SW is not selling well at all and Ninjago is selling very well, along with Friends.Neo wrote:It's not that SW has fallen out of favor but the markup from MRSP is now sooo high the discounts don't matter. (9_9)I noticed that many TRU Technic sets are at MSRP. Hence the exclusion to the BOGO.
My experience suggests to me that if one shops at TRU - it really pays to sign up for their rewards card program so you can combine a sales item with a discount coupons. Most of the time TRU is only a good deal/price for legos when a sale price lego item qualifies/allows for additional discounts via extra coupons (it takes much more work to get a good deal from TRU than from Amazon ). For example, on TRU's pre black friday, I combined a 15% off coupon ( I got this coupon in the mail along with a bunch of other coupons in a Valu-Pack coupon mailing) and $10 gift card with TRU's pre black friday sales of a Lego Dino Triceratop (38.99) and a Toshiba BlueRay player(49.99) to drop my total price with tax to 70.99.
With TRU - its like waiting for the perfect storm - all the planets and stars have to be aligned before you can go out for a sale.

I've seen several folks casually saying "yeah my TRU has a bunch of Hobbit sets on BOGO50 but I can't stand the markup" and I want to agree and throttle them at the same time.
I can tell you that if I saw them it would be the last anyone saw them.

Re: Toys R Us (USA) Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off 11/25-12/1
Personally, i think that'd be madness. The Goblin King set original price is 100 while TRU in-store has 120. So BOGO50 at TRU for 2 = 180 which is 10% off. These days, 10% means nothing unless we must have the latest sets. Mark-ups from TRU are just ridiculous.brickarmor wrote:I've seen several folks casually saying "yeah my TRU has a bunch of Hobbit sets on BOGO50 but I can't stand the markup" and I want to agree and throttle them at the same time.I can tell you that if I saw them it would be the last anyone saw them.

The main reasons I am considering trying to make something work with the Hobbit sets and this sale is that I have a $32 gift card that I need to use and I plan on selling the figures out of the second copy of the set I plan to get (maybe even both sets of figures if I think I will get a third copy down the road). The only reason I have that card is because I made the mistake of asking someone to make a return from an online purchase for me and I forgot who I was dealing with (TRU). Oh well.sonofgun1776 wrote:Personally, i think that'd be madness. The Goblin King set original price is 100 while TRU in-store has 120. So BOGO50 at TRU for 2 = 180 which is 10% off. I think that's exactly what he's saying, he wants the latest sets ASAP and is excited about any discount at allsonofgun1776 wrote:Personally, i think that'd be madness. Picked up today from TRU
(x2) 7938 city passenger trains made them price match walmart @ $124.97 so I only paid $188 for both.
(x1) 4209 Fire plane $56.99 Target match
(X1) 4438 Robbers Hideout $19.99 Lego store match + Bogo
The MOD had to come do the price override and tried to give me the either you can have the price match or the BOGO not both speech. To which I replied then in your price match policy online you need to state that excudes b1g1/b2g3f otherwise I would not have bothered driving 10 miles across town for this sale
The receipt says 148 saved but closer to 92 after you take out their markups.

Has anyone who ordered 2x Diagon Alleys for this sale had their orders shipped?

Does TRU have a price match policy? And if so, I would think it would not stack with deals like that.DmChylde wrote:Picked up today from TRU

They do, and as far as stacking, it all depends on the manager you get. Most I have come across are not nearly as generous (or stupid) as the one in the above scenario.
Re: Toys R Us (USA) Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off 11/25-12/1
I tried to BOGO with a price match and was turned down, vehemently.
