There is no way it's $60. If weathertop had 200 less pieces for $60, then how would thiso ne be $60? I'd say it's $70-$75USD.

pretty sure it's a fake but the official looking sign and the brick fair going on in the background is pretty sneakyThe-Daryl wrote:That's a bunch of minifigs for a 15 dollar set...

I saw a new pirate ship image with minifigures at this site:

As for the Pirate Minfigs, it's a bit disappointing that 5 of 9 figures I already own (no variations even). Looks like the pirate hair is the Kili/Fili mold.
Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
How many series/waves are typically released for a license?
I'm just guessing that there will be at least one new wave each for the other two Hobbit movies around their release time.
But what about the LoTR Trilogy? Do we have more waves to look forward to, or will this summer's be the last of them?

I can't wait to say " It was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it. The way is shut", as Im putting the dead army together. Good stuff!
Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
I wonder how long the license is that Lego bought. From the sets they are releasing this summer, it would suggest they have a few more years to run. There is so much they haven't covered, and some sets (like the pirate ship) are a bit random when you think they haven't done Minas Tirith or Battle of the Pellanor Fields yet.The-Daryl wrote:How many series/waves are typically released for a license?

I'm hoping it becomes as long running as Star Wars. It is such a classic and popular theme there isn't a reason I can see that it won't. The rumor that there is an UCS Orthanc in the works bodes well. Just wish they would release some battle packs like they do for Star Wars.
Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
Yeah, I can't see them not doing a Minas Tirith at all, so I think it's safe to say that as long as we don't have that in hand, there's more coming... I think with two more Hobbit movies coming we've probably got at least two more years out of this... if we get more than that I suspect it will be a question of how profitable the series has been.
Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
I'd expect a minimum of 2 more years but I'm still hoping it will be an ongoing theme. What is the 2nd longest running theme that has been released after Star Wars?

Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
A quick search shows Lego Licensed DC comics batman from 2006-2009 and 2012-present. That is the longest running license theme currently in production...unless you count architecture, I'm sure Lego probably has to pay money to someone to use the likeness of those buildings in their toys, but I'd guess it's not even in the same ballpark monetarily as say superheroes or lotr/star wars etc.willb2064 wrote:I'd expect a minimum of 2 more years but I'm still hoping it will be an ongoing theme. Most licensed themes currently produced are 2012-present.

Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013
The only license sets I can think of that have gone more than one year are, Cars / Cars 2, LotR, Super Heroes, but Im sure we will get Hobbit sets for all three years. Only makes sense. However the movie was expanded from 2 movies to three, might probably happened after the license agreement.
