I like all the LOTR sets, but will probably pass on the pirate ship. Max Rebo looks freak'n awesome and the Republic Gunship is badass too.

@ The-Daryl: Sorry if my post was offending to you, I didn't mean to imply that you were a liar or making stuff up. I read your post to mean that Lucas happened upon a copy of that issue of "Star Wars: Visionaries" and was surprised to see Darth Maul return from the dead, to whit he said "That's ridiculous", which couldn't be possible, because every product or publication had to be approved by Lucas.
I'm well-versed in Lucas' "fluid" (good word) revisionism, and I think that's more what I was referring to.

@Vynsane: No worries at all, sir. Problem with text is things can be inferred that weren't intended.
Back on topic: Is this the only Toy Show for the year? Or is there another?
For myself - I'm looking forward to/going to buy at least all the Lone Ranger and LoTR. I don't like that the eagle is so small in Black Gate; seems like the creator set is more "correct" scale (can you even use the word correct when talking about something CGI'ed in a ficticious world? hehe).
And back onto shows in general: Do they normally not show CMF's? (I was hoping for a glimpse of series 10, since I read there were going to be some "golden" ones)

It's actually the last one. The first is in the UK a few weeks ago, but no pictures are allowed, then Germany had one, and pictures were allowed. Lastly was this one in NYC, it's the last one for the year. Last year we got a sneak peak of one series later in the Germany fair, but I guess nothing for this year. Someone already made the set using official LEGO CGI pieces.

I just had time to go over the pics from toy fair. I was impressed with the number of box sets that TLG will release in 2013. My eyes were tired by even just watching those pics. It seemed TLG was very aggressive nowaday.
Overall, Lone Range was the most outstanding theme set in terms of price and design. Initially, I wasn't planning to get any one of those as I wasn't the fans of cowboy theme; however, I started changing my mind and possibly collected all of them.
My must-buy list
75017 Duel On Geonisis
75020 Jabba's Sail Barge
75021 Republic Gunship (never own one)
75006 Jedi Starfighter & Kamino (for the droid)

13 113 Wizard battle
30 243 Council of Elrond
60 656 Black Gate
100 756 Corsair Ship

While true, I don't know if you can truly compare sets via price per piece when talking about trains or ships. Those are always more expensive per piece (due to large molded segments, rails, etc).
I think everyone can agree the US prices for both of those licensed waves are excellent!

The more I look at The Lone Ranger theme the more I like it. Think I'll be getting all the sets plus all of LOTR.

Very excited about new castle sets!
While I enjoy LOTR I was very sad when they removed Kingdoms to make way for it.
Glad to see they can co-exist.
Not a super fan of the new Dragon head but the set is reasonably priced and the Dragon looks more pose-able than previous models.
Now if they would only bring back Vikings...
