GS:Bug Battle iOS

Post by ncbarrett » Fri Feb 15, 2013 5:09 am

Galaxy Squad Bug Battle game was released on the 12th.
Currently only on apple devices I believe.
Pretty fun little game.
It incorporates the splitting functions of the sets.

So, yeah, I'm obsessed with this game. I already unlocked all four teams on all three of the first-screen planets (how do you get to the planets on the second screen? Probably have to unlock all 32 achievements or something), all tech upgrades save for one, all the special mission achievements. I have 26 out of 32 achievements unlocked - still need
  • Space Squasher Gold (10,000 bugs total)
  • Relentless Rescuer Silver (250 humans saved)
  • Relentless Rescuer Gold (500 humans saved)
  • Terrestrial Techie Gold (all 19 mods)
  • Commander Rank (also 250 humans saved)
  • General Rank (also 500 humans saved)
They should have probably staggered the 'Relentless Rescuer' and 'Rank' thresholds, so you spread them out a bit more. As it is, you get both Silver and Commander, and Gold/General at the same time. I would have probably suggested Relentless Rescuer Silver at 200 humans, then Commander at 250, then Rescuer Gold at 400 and General at 500, or thereabouts.

So, hit another two achievements on the train in to work this morning...
  • Space Squasher Gold (10,000 bugs total)
  • Terrestrial Techie Gold (all 19 mods)
All I have left now are the Human-saving accruals:
  • Relentless Rescuer Silver (250 humans saved)
  • Relentless Rescuer Gold (500 humans saved)
  • Commander Rank (also 250 humans saved)
  • General Rank (also 500 humans saved)
I only have 160 humans saved so far, so I don't know how much longer I can play this without access to the other two planets for some new challenges. I'm not very lucky finding humans, I think I've saved three (the maximum you can do) only a handful of times.

There is a "Code" area of the settings screen - anyone know how to get codes? What do they do? I took a look at the instruction PDFs on Brickset but couldn't find anything (thought maybe there would be codes in the instruction booklets).

to find humans use the human detection tech.
I think the other 2 planets are "Future" expansion, my guess summer with new sets.

I still only get maybe 2 when using the 'Human Detector'. The description just reads "increases your chances of finding a human" - I took that to mean that a higher ratio of pods 'contain' a human than would be the case without that tech.

As for strategy in the missions, I find the best way to rack up points and kills is to use the "Invincibility Cloak" Defense Mod and "Super Sneaky Points" Technology Mod. The latter nets you 2x points for each kill until you're hit during Phase 1 of a given mission, and the former makes you invincible for Phase 1 - meaning you won't lose the 2x points at all.

I also find the "Laser Spread Blast" to be the best weapon.

EDIT: I decided to just try random color combinations in the 'Enter Code' portion of the 'Options' screen. You have four different bugs that you can change the color in different combos (Red, Green, Blue and Orange) I'll compile a list here as I uncover them. I'll use the first letter of each color to demarcate them.
  • Rapid Fire Shooter: OOOB
  • Human Detection Upgrade: OGOB
  • Party Time: RRRR
  • Kitty Blast: GGRR
