Hmph. At our rural K-mart, there were plenty of tie fighters in the clearance section, but still at 49.99. Hope they are just slow at putting out the 50% off blow-out signs. Is this supposed to be a nationwide thing?

At the 34th Street store in Manhattan, there were some deals. At least 10 Mining Trucks that were 50% off. The 7288 Mobile Police Unit was 50% off (2 on the shelf), as was the 4439 Heavy Duty Helicopter (picked up the last one). No Sith Nightspeeders. Items that were tagged with 50% off tags but were not there - MF Mummy and a SW set originally priced at $66 (TIE fighter?). Price checked all of the LotR, Hobbit, MF, SH and SW, but could not find any other discounts.

i had plans to meet up with a friend which fell through. since i was in close proximity to Kmart at
middle village in Queens, i dropped in for a visit which paid off. i picked up the TIE fighter (24.50)
and the heavy duty helicopter with damaged box (22.50). it was strange to see the Gungan Sub in the
clearance aisle but still scanned at 69.99. I appreciate the update from Brixter with the report about
the 34th St store. that location was a little out of the way for me today.

Many aren't marked. You need to scan them individually.

Thanks. Got two TIEs for 24.50 each, but Striker was full price. There was no sign for the additional 50% off here, but I know other toy clearances were scanning with 50% including the exclusive Hasbro Endor AT-ST.

After seeing the post yesterday I went to the only local Kmart and found 5 tie fighters, and the big Dino set all at 50% the clearance price. I scanned nearly every other set in the lego isle and everything was full price. I didnt check the Goblin King though, so I'll definately be heading back.

Ok, headed back to our store in the frozen tundra (ND). Got the Tie fighter (still 4 or 5 left) and The Sith Infiltrator (last one, obvious it was on shelf for a long time) for the prices mentioned here! Scanned other sets I was interested in (planet series, some LOTR, desert skiff, republic strike figher) and they were all full price.

Stopped at two different Kmart's, one in Arvada, CO and the other Thorton, CO. Arvada only had several Mining truck's on sale, I bought two (one for us and one for nephew). Thorton not only had nothing on sale, but the entire Lego isle was stripped bare. Literally only a 4 sets on the shelves. My guess is that a reseller cleaned it out over the weekend.

Kmart is far from popular in CO, nothing like Target and Walmart, as a result I've never seen a store with a self-serve price scanner. One would have to corner an employee to help sort out what is really on clearance or not and when I was at Arvada the guy began avoiding me after I asked if they had a self-serve scanner.

There are still one 7065 Alien mothership and one 5885 Triceratops Trapper, I decided not to buy them.

Des Plaines, IL

Okay, after hearing about all these great in-store finds, I couldn't help myself and ended up making the trek to the Des Plaines store (and met another nice forum member in the process) this morning. I have to apologize for maligning that store earlier, as I did find a few things (it helped that the clearance items were mostly still in the regular LEGO aisle, although price tags did indicate that they were clearance).

For anyone interested, this is what they have LEFT: a few Ultrabuild Joker, lots of SW planet series, a lot of Heroica Fortaan and one DUPLO shape sorter set (can't remember what it's called). None of the other sets people are finding discounted in other areas of the country (like LotR, MF) seem to be on sale at this store.

Well, there were 3 Tie Fighters there - I took 2, the other forum member took 1. So don't torture yourself with images of heaps of Tie Fighters!

No, with my schedule, even hitting Des Plaines this morning took some planning. Before they were taken off the website Sunday evening, I checked store inventory for Tie Fighters in local area stores - all of them had them listed in stock, so it may be worth trying one of the others. Honestly, I was quite surprised Des Plaines hadn't been cleaned out yesterday, so you might get lucky!

At first I didn't find much in my store, just several planets for $3.99 and 4202 Mining Truck for $15; I picked up one of those. Pretty much everything else mentioned in the thread was MSRP.

But then one of the associates clearing and restocking the toy section pointed me in the direction of a new clearance aisle (vs. the regular one), where I found a 7939 Cargo Train for $65, down from $179-$199, depending on who you ask. *Squeeee!*

Does anyone know if Kmart has a day they do clearance markdowns?
Everything in my area has a fair stock of Legos and many of the sets mentioned on clearance (though in these stores they are not marked as clearance as of yet.) so I would like to check again during the week but with the price of gas was wondering if anyone knows if there is a best day to check?
