The point was brought up that Bilbo wears this outfit in upcoming movies so there is a pretty goood chance we may get it again...

Fair point, but realistically, it's a decent price for a movie I was already going to buy :)

That does beg the question about "Exclusive" minifigures, that I have been wondering about...

Does it just mean "exclusive" right then? If it can just be released later or in a set? Like Chase for the City Undercover pre-order was "Exclusive" but then the same figure is being released in a set. Elrond was "exclusive" and so far is the only way to get a 2nd age era version, but is there even a chance the same figure can be released in a set?

According to posting from Eurobricks, that outfit is from a deleted scene, which would most likely mean that it will not coming out in a future set. But clearly from the picture posted above, we can see his blue coat. I guess we will see what happens in the Fall and what "Exclusive" would mean for this minfig. :)

They have to give Lego figures away now to get people to buy this longwinded movie. ;-)

Blasphemy! I'll be buying the extended edition later :-D

...not to mention the other place I have seen to preorder it comes with a poster instead of a minifig and it's 10 dollars more! How does that make sense?!

Looks like an entirely different outfit to me. It just looks like his normal red coat in blue on the minifigure. That's a different kind of coat and shirt entirely in that film still.

Bilbo? How many Bilbo do we really need? Wish they would give us Radagast, Witch-king of Angmam, or Necromancer\Sauron, but I bet those will be in furture sets. So what about the mountain Trolls: Bert, Tom, and Bill, now THAT would REALLY boost the sale.

The-Daryl, the polybag Chase McCain has an exclusive body & legs, and is not the same as the one in "High Speed Chase" which has the same body and legs as all the other "elite" police from the current wave of http://brickset.com/minifigs/?m=cty356" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Neat, I didn't notice the small differences until you pointed them out :)

So is this exclusive only available at target.com with a pre-order or will we be able to by this same one in stores? It sounds like it will be available in stores but the front page makes it sound kinda like we can only get it online. Anyone know for sure?

It looks like this is very similar to the Pirates of the Carribean DvD with the Black Pearl. All stores had the same DVD, but Target had special packaging that had the polybag inside the DVD. From the picture at the beginning of this thread, it looks to be in the same/similar fashion kind like the Books showing their exclusive figures. No pre-order will be needed, but you will have to purchase it from Target specifically. (Just my observations / deductions).
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Is this only pre order or is this going to be on the shelf?

That's a good question because Target had the exclusive version of Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 with a free poster for online preorder. In store, they didn't have the poster and you can no longer get poster even online. However, it looked to be a separate item that is not in the box.

Target also had the exclusive Breaking Dawn Part 1 Extended Edition which was impossible to find in stores; at least the Blu-ray version even though website says In Stock.

I think I'm going to preorder and not have to worry about the store. They spider wrap things in the store anyway and I'd rather take my chances with the postal service delivery.

Does anyone have any experience pre-ordering media items from Target.com?

Just wondering because mine is listed as being delivered the 22nd to the 26th; I'm curious if that is accurate or if like most retailers they ship pre-release so it's there around when it comes out. (My first time pre-ordering from Target).

My, somewhat limited, experience with media items in general is that they usually ship on the release date. I don't expect them to be delivered by the release date and ship pre-release. I didn't realize that happened at most retailers. I can't recall that happening on any of my pre-orders. Maybe it is because I almost always choose the slowest/cheapest shipping option?

I guess I am overstating by saying "most"...I can only think of three offhand; Newegg, Walmart, and Amazon have all gotten to me on, or the day before release day (with the exception of a computer game from walmart actually arrived on a saturday a WEEK before release- which did no good because the servers weren't up yet  ).

I also always choose the cheapest (or free) shipping, but now that I actually think about it it was late 2011 since I've pre-ordered anything online (I just go into a B&M).

No worries either way, a few days isn't any big deal I was just curious :)
