If I were TLG, I will take this marketing strategy. Gold Knights were better than gold sir topham hat :-) .
I think they just picked a figure that would be easy and with as few accessories as possible. Golden hair doesn't make sense... neither does a baseball cap.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

And by the CMF Book it looks like there will NOT be a golden 17th figure in every box, so maybe the 5000 total number is accurate.

It says right on the page there will be 5000 in the wild. Not really any guess work to it at this point.

Ahh good catch, read everything else on the page but didn't squint enough to see that =)

Anyone know when these are supposed to hit store shelves?

The text of one of the pictures in the other thread (character book) says May 2013.

I'm hoping I'll actually see some more series 9 before then!

They will be available at stores in May 2013, but some other stores like TRU and the LEGO Brand Stores will be available this April.

I just realized there are no women with dresses. That's kind of sad because I was looking for forest maiden and Oscar woman and it's really easy in series 9 with the slopes.

I guarantee you will have no trouble finding the Madusa with that tail piece.

Yeah but the two minifigures I look for most now is the forest one, and the woman with the little statue, both easy to find with the slope pieces.

I'll only be looking for one snake head.

It shouldn't be hard to find the lady warrior with "spear", Paris with her "1X2 tile", and librarian with a "cup and book".

I hope this isn't a dumb question but...how do they know what figure is in what bag?

Brickset has posted CMF 10 is already out in the country of Hungary.

I wonder how much of the 5,000k Mr. Golds will be distributed in the USA, maybe 25%?

They "feal them up". ;-)

They take a figure still in its bag and feal the parts through the bag until they identify a unique part that allows them to identify the figure. A sword, or a helmet, or a hair piece or unique accessory that only that figure has. It cuts down on ending up with 6 chicken suit guys. :-)

I would bet Lego distributes them in proportion to their Lego sales proportions. Obviously I'm biased, but I would think USA has much more than 25% of Lego's total sales, so I would think (or maybe just hope) the total is higher than that.

Then again, maybe Lego will just 'randomize' the distribution and wherever they may land up....which is what I think... the costs to 'track / specifically distribute' where the 5000 out of 5 million+ where end up would outweigh the benefit of Mr. Gold to begin with.

I highly doubt Lego will put these ONLY for sale at Lego stores, so some could end up in a Walgreens for all we know :P

Plus, how many people living in Canada, Singapore, Australia, etc. buy in the US, and how many in the US buy from Amazon.uk/.fr/.it etc.

Again I find myself not at all excited by a series that everyone else seems to be ecstatic about. The paintball guy has a cool helmet... that's about all that I care about this go-round.

I figured that was the only way to do it, LOL, but didn't think they'd take the time. Plus, that damages the bag if not done properly. I never buy these if the bad shows signs of such damage.

I've been "gotta collect em all" despite the fact I shouldn't be, for series 1 through 8, and am only one shy of series 9. With a chase figure?, well, that's the end of that. I am not expending my money and time on having to have at least one of each anymore. But looking at the main 16, I still want 14 of them...gaahhh!!

I agree with you lol, I started too late so only have some series 6 and complete S7, S8, S9. Seems like a lot to spend on the figures, but they are nice to look at once displayed. I think I'll just go for the 16 main figures and if by luck I can find a gold one, then yippie, if not, oh well! ain't gonna drain my wallet just to find it :-D
