Lord of the Rings stuff is on sale at Target.
Mines of Moria 79.99
Orc Forge Target Exclusive 39.99
Weathertop, Gandalf Arrives and the older spider one were on sale but can't remember exact price.

Which location was this at? The stores in Edmonton don't seem to have the sale going on.

Orc Forge is still available for $39.99. The Target store I visited today also had the Attack on Weathertop priced similar to Walmart's rollback price of $59.88.

Which store is this? The Edmonton stores haven't had a single sale yet even though they supposedly follow the same prices as Calgary and B.C. according to a manager I spoke to.

Sorry, I need to update my user information, these stores are in Ontario. The stores are in the GTA.

Orc Forge for $40 still seems pretty ridiculous for a small set like that.

Yeah it is.

But then again it's a Target exclusive and it would look awesome at the bottom of the Tower of Orthanc.

sale is active on the above sets at the Newmarket, ON target. Just bought the orc forge. still cheaper to buy it in the states at US retail plus taxes but did not have any US trips planned anytime soon.

store had all the first line set of LOTR on sale (except helms deep was not on the shelf) for 20% off (which puts the sale price equal to the US retail price). Had all the LOTR set already except for orc forge so it was finally time to buy it.

Which stores are cheaper in the US? I will be in the WNY area in a few weeks so I'd like to check them out. If you factor in your time, gas money, bridge fees, you'd really need one hell of a deal to beat $39 CDN for Orc Forge at Target here. Sure if you buy in bulk it might be worthwhile, but Customs will gladly take your 13%. Is there the possibility of duty on toys?

There is no duty on Lego; just the sales taxes.

US retail in target is 39.99 US plus 8.75% sale tax vs 39.99cdn plus 13% sales tax at ON target. There's at least 3 targets in the niagara falls/buffalo area for the typical cdn shopper. now that US currency is on the rise its now even. xe.com shows 1.05 exchange rate so its cheaper to buy in ON now. so you have to look for other discounts like getting 5% off target card, or other instore deals. Sometimes they give you $5 coupon for buying instore specials.

I never considered paying another 13% on top of the US price for any comparison because I never had to pay taxes on importing lego before. Of course what you buy and claim at the border, which crossing you take, and how long you stay determines that outcome.
