LEGO Boxes? Why? Do people actually buy them?

Why do so many people list LEGO boxes on Bricklink? What is the demand for them?

LEGO fans are insane and some of them will buy any crap they can get. :)

Because of this some sets are most likely worth more with a box, even if it's open, than without. Really lame being I can just see the box online.

Some people collect boxes like stamps. Others may need a box to sell with their set for more money.

Thanks to both of you. I thought that some might buy one to sell with a used set to make it more complete but I wasn't sure and I agree.. I don't need the box if I'm buying a used LEGO sets. I save my boxes and use them to make outer boxes to ship boxes sets in that I sell from time to time.

Off topic... but I didn't want to start a new thread for this... I can't "Start New Topic" in Buy/Sell/Trade. I've never started one there so I don't know if I'm missing something or if its a glitch. Maybe its because I new

I've sold a very small handful of boxes on BL, and the two times I asked I was told that it was to make a gift more impressive, in one case as a used set for a kid and the other to replace a smashed box.

Yeah, you probably need 50-100 posts or something so they know you aren't a fake.

Aha.. I can see purchasing a box to go with a used LEGO gift.

possibly for nostaglic reason.

I haven't thought about it until this thread brought it up, but I would be pretty stoked to get my hands on boxes in great condition of my two favorite childhood sets:
6973 Deep Freeze Defender and 6082 Fire Breathing Fortress
( WHOA THOSE TWO SETS ARE 20 YEARS OLD NOW)
