Has anyone been able to deduce a ryhme or reason why some sets are shipped to Canada via DHL or Royal Mail & Canada Post (No duty) or UPS (duty)?

I've done large orders, small orders, multiple same size boxes, different boxes, and over 12 orders in the past year, havent been able to deduce what causes Amazon UK to choose one shipper over another.

I haven't been able to figure it out either.. not sure if it's the day or what that determines what they use for shipping.. I feel that when it takes them a while to process they go by UPS more often than not, but that's more of a feeling than anything.. everytime I've had an issue with an order and they've needed to resend something, it's always been by UPS.

Well, just had a chat with someone at Amazon.co.uk

The carrier used is decided by the system just before dispatch. I assume they just go for the best quote at the time. =\

Any duty issue if shipping to US? i might just ship to US then pick it back up to avoid dealing with UPS

Rolling the dice...ordered 2 passenger, 2 formula racer and 1 cargo train. Comes to around $425 CND...will see how much duty if any...I all these come in under $500 CND.. it's good deal.

Looks like most uk deals are gone. Bit the bullet and ordered cargo train, it's not an exciting set, but the cad price is so ridiculous I knew I would never buy it at cad msrp or tru's retarded 20%off.

From my experience - I've probably purchased from them about 40 times now over the past 18 months - if it ships from the German Warehouse, its DHL. If it ships from their Scottish warehouse, its UPS. That's been the case 100% of the time. and 100% of the time UPS charges the duty :(

Wow amazing value, half the price of in New Zealand. I bought one of each trains last week and they got here in 4 days!!

BTW, the price has gone up to 126 pounds (from 72) on the cargo train and 91 pounds (from 57) on the passenger train.

Got two of my orders, one train itself shipped DHL=>CanadaPost, no fees. Other was a larger order and shipped UPS dinged $10+GST. Looks like the theory of single sets works best, would have saved a lot ordering singles despite the shipping fee.

UPS one from UK, DHL from Germany ... so does that make a diff, larger orders = UK fulfillment?

^ I once ordered a single item from Amazon UK and it came via UPS (Ninjago fire temple). I think this is all their automated system that determines the lowest shipping cost at that specific point in time...
