Used my Target credit card to save another 5% which brought the price down to $18.74 each!

Still barely worth it even at that price. The Star Wars advent calendars always clog up the shelves this time of year, not sure why they keep making them.

Went to target this evening to see if they would match Toys R Us on the Warg set. The lady at customer service said they won't match it on Black Friday, but would match it tomorrow. After buying 5 of these from Walmart for $20 a couple weeks ago $30 didn't seem that outstanding anyway.

However, spotted 9 Star Wars advent calenders that were still there after seeing them about 10 days ago. These were at the end of the aisle with a $34.99 sticker..Not bad but I held off waiting for them to go cheaper.. Scanned them tonight and they came up $24.99..better. For every $75 purchase you received a $15 target gift card to use on anything/anytime. This brought the price down to $19.99. Used my Target credit card to save another 5% which brought the price down to $18.74 each! Really surprised that nobody was buying these even at $34.99. Was a good Black Friday after all!

I will bet nobody was buying them because they could go as low as $10-15 like they did last year. Most collectors are very informed, yet same goes to hoarding resellers, and that is scary.

In January 2013 I bought the 2012 Star Wars Advent calendar for $12 at the Lego Store. Enjoying it for this year's xmas!

Seems I ruffled a few feathers here!!

First of all, i am a collector foremost, but also a Lego investor. My investment strategy includes putting away sets for years down the road as well as building sets for enjoyment. However, I do sell some to allow me to keep collecting and investing the way I do. This has allowed my son and I to build and enjoy hundreds of sets over many years, as well as put away hundreds for the future. It seem buying multiple sets labels me as a "hoarder". I have no problem capitalizing on a great deal by buying a few extra sets of the same to put away. I do not try to flip them immediately on Kijiji like a particular poster here does. As for the advent calenders, I bought 3 and left six behind. I know very well most of the other "investors on this site would of bought all of them in a heart beat as you could easily double your money parting them out. So "dulait" as you feel I am "uninformed" or "uneducated" when it comes to Lego, this is not my first rodeo. My only downfall was the mistake of sharing my enthusiasm with others after a good Lego deal. Check out the Lego investing forum and bring yourself up to speed before you start judging others.

First of all, from a business point of view, the retailers thank people like yourselves on helping to clear out stocks faster than they can mark them down.

Secondly, I did not target you since I did not recall I mentioned nami on my previous posts, or as you put it ruffled your feathers. So please calm down. I was talking about hoarders whom simply buy things simply based on numbers without spending any time doing homework on say, series 11 do not have an exclusive figure like Mr.Gold...etc And thankyou for your great advise on checking out the investment forum, yet I am not sure if I will be up to speed or fall behind with investment advice from SOME people, NOT everyone, whom are and can be too enthusiastic, easily aroused, paranoid, assume too much, have A.D.D....etc. I will take notes from you on judging others since you seem to be that much better at it.

Lastly, people might and will disagree based on which one defines them the most. My honest opinion, investors are those that buy some extras for potential future gains, hoarders are those that buy all while screwing others from getting any, then sell right away for instant profit.

It's simply a matter of well established experience that the SW Advent calendars collapse in price each year to 25% of their individual value. Buying multiples for more than that to resell is very risky if you're seeking to maximize your return. Of course, if you actually want to you know, use the advent calendar for what it's intended for, the celebration of the leadup to Christ's birth, then $25 is an excellent price. Advent starts tomorrow.

I will say this year's calendar has the best selection of figures so far, with the semi-exclusive young boba (only released in an old set, though likely to be released again in a future set I imagine) and the only other way besides Endor to get the new version scout trooper currently. However the mini models represent useless junk as far as my minifig scale collection goes, with a bunch of Creator-type parts that usually don't have much value.

I went Sunday to see if it's 24.99 at my local Target and it was. Got one for the experience of an advent calender. I don't collect nor resell. Where I live, there's no lego store, no mastermind toys and we just got a target like 3 months ago. So it's impossible for me to get it at $12-15.
