Can I return a retired set?

Hi, my son got 2 duplicate lego sets for Christmas and wants to change them. I bought both from the local lego store so we are taking them back next week.

I unfortunately have lost the receipt but on speaking to the store yest they said that was fine as they can tell from the stickers it came from them - great. We have looked online to see what he might like to change it for and one of the sets is now showing as retired (6864). It is still is Argos/Toys R Us etc so must have just been retired and indeed on the US Lego site is still for sale.

I was wondered if we shall still be able to exchange it. I have tried calling but unable to get through and have emailed but the auto response says it can take up to 2 weeks to get a reply - eek!

So I wondered if any of you wonderful lego experts have any idea as I can't seem to find anything re this on their website.

As far as I know the brick and mortar stores will not take a product back that they can't restock.

Thanks for that. Seems unfair as I only bought it in Dec and it is still in other shops and on the lego US site. Only seems to be retired ay the lego uk branded stores. Lets see what they say next week I suppose :(

Part of your issue might be that they will only offer you the sale price if it has been discounted since your purchase date. Hopefully they will let you exchange it. Good luck!
