Lego discovery centre Manchester

Hi, my wife and I are thinking of going to the Manchester lego discovery centre, no children in tow all grown up, but looking at the videos it looks very child oriented. We are quite interested in the shop though as we are after some loose bits, wondered if any one had been and if it was worth going for the shop alone? All a bit new to this, so hello!
