Calculate shipping
Hey Lego investors, I have a couple of new in box sets I bought extra and just dont have the capacity to keep them anymore. I honestly would like to get rid of them but I have no idea how to calculate the shipping on ebay or how to package/buy the box for the shipping. If you could give me a few tips that would be helpful. Thank you.

Re: Calculate shipping
Go to youtube, and look up a channel called bricks on the dollar. He is a full time bricklink seller and has videos on just about every conceivable topic related to selling Lego. Just go through his videos until you find one about shipping. His videos are pretty low tech, but he knows what he's talking about. If you can't find exactly what you need, send him a question. (And no, I am not him. :) )
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?

So I browsed around and he didn't have much info on my question. Can anyone else help me with a response? Any help will be much appreciated.

(uggh. that's a tougher one.)Bbquicksilver wrote:Pretty much the size of the haunted house box.
The minimum size I would use is 24"x20"x4", for a haunted house, packed with a combination of bubble-wrap and packing paper. If its a rare set, I like to double-box them with a 2nd box that's just a bit bigger, for added protection. U-Line is a good source, http://www.uline.com/BL_403/Flat-Boxes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, but they aren't cheap and you have to buy in multiples of 25 or 10, depending on the size.
If you just need 1 or 2, you could try home supply stores (e.g. Lowes) or moving/storage places for a comparably sized box. I expect you'll have trouble getting a box that size that's in decent shape for free, although it in may be worth trying Costco/Target/Walmart/grocery stores to see what you can find.
once you have a box picked out, you can use on-line tools to estimate the shipping costs. I typically send sets that size via UPS, and use the 'calculate time/cost' link on their webpage. Use a far-distance zip code to get the closest estimate. It does help to compare w/ USPS too, as sometimes they will be cheaper for short distances.
You'll save some money by buying the shipping label on-line, instead of walking up to a retail counter---particularly if you use UPS: the difference between on-line and the UPS Store retail counter can be double!
HTH. Good luck with it.
