Exact same minifigs but heads are different
Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I have recently aquired another lego sdcc venom minifigure for my collection ( i was suppose to have 3 of them but lost one in the mail). I was worried about getting a counterfeit so i decided to inspect and compare both figs. Eveything was good until i noticed that one of them has a hollow head and the other has solide recessed head. Is this normal?

I'm not sure what you mean, but sometimes LEGO changes the parts to be solid to one that has hoes so kids don't choke. However such an exclusive shouldn't have that issue.pulpol408 wrote:I have recently aquired another lego sdcc venom minifigure for my collection ( i was suppose to have 3 of them but lost one in the mail). Any chance you can take some pictures?

Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I am not sure if I have ever received hollow head before. Did you find the "lego" printed on the it?
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
There's no lego print on it. I git curious and inspected all my minifigs and found the aimilar hollow head on 2 vintage spider-man, captain america, deadpool, darth maul santa, darth malgus, a few arf troopers, cad bane. So i guess it's real?
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I was also able to ask a vendor on ebay and he emailed me pictures of his and it had a hollow head as well. Does anybody know if this is normal?

Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I just looked up my minifigs from Indiana Jones, Pirate of Caribbean, Prince of Perisa, Star Wars, and Atlantis series. Some of them are hollow head and some of them are not. Thus, I am guessing your minifig head could be real.
Compare the "print" between minifig heads. If they are looking the same, it shouldn't be counterfeit.

Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
The print on both heads are exactly the same. I wonder why is there inconsistency with the type of parts/head that they use? Why not just make them all the same?

Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
It's a little weird that LEGO sometimes use hollow and sometimes not, most of the ones I looked at are not hollow, but I only checked like 20 and have 800 mini figures.pulpol408 wrote:The print on both heads are exactly the same. But LEGO sometimes changes the molds of a piece, like the new horrible lifejacket, and when they are switching over you can get two different molds in the same sets. It was really annoying with the grey/brown color change.
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I wonder if it has something to do with the targeted age group of the set. If Venom is in multiple sets and one of the sets was targeted for an older age group, that could be the reason one is hollow and one is not ... that is just my hypothesis.
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
Both minifigs came from the 2012 sdcc as a prize and I don't think they were released in any lego set. It would be best to use only hollow heads because any kid can still get there hands on it. I let my 4 yr old build star wars or super hero sets regardless of age group, so i don't think age grouping should determine how safe your lego parts should be.Slickson wrote:I wonder if it has something to do with the targeted age group of the set. Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I think LEGO doesn't like hollow because there is no "LEGO" written in it then. I'd say it's real and that the hollow black mini figure heads are mixed with the not hollow ones.
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
I actually thought hollow was the norm since they didn't want kids swallowing them and not being able to breathe.

I don't think there should be any issues as such with the hollow heads.
Re: Exact same minifigs but heads are different
Just got done with the Orlando Lego store and hit up the PaB wall... I noticed the same pieces with different "dots" like the heads. I'm guessing Lego is slowly transitioning all of its molds to incorporate this hollow top since it lessens choking hazards
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

The 2x2 ball joints that every mech LEGO has ever made uses for the legs and sometimes arms as the ball pieces with holes in them now.legohunter wrote:I am curious what that is? Do you have part ID?Luciant wrote:I noticed the same pieces with different "dots" like the heads.
